IMO, this one is from the later 1960s. The shape of the lapels, the lack of boutonniere holes, and the coat's length point to this time frame.

THanks for your input Marc, I'm sure you're correct, my best guess is nowhere near as well informed as your opinion. I think the thick wool on this piece is really incredible stuff, and that's part of what made me think it was older, but the lapels are definitely not 50s. I also think of the good A&F stuff as older, but I guess they were probably selling high quality stuff right up through the 60s at least.

Yup, they were. The quality was excellent until 1977.

Nice coat - looks to be knee length. If you had to guess, what size is it? It appears to fit you well, what size jacket do you wear, if you don't mind my asking?

I wear a 42-44, and it's right in there. I'd say closer to 42 since it doesn't fit me as well with a jacket underneath.

One thousand drats, being right about a 42 it is just too small for me. What a wonderful coat.

Don't worry. For some reason, overcoats are a harder sell than suits.

Maybe because most guys only need one? THen again these days one suit is more than most guys own. Personally, I like suits, but I'm a big fan of outerwear. Even though I've started adding more sport coat type items to my wardrobe, I've always tended to have a lot of different coats and jackets. And hats of course! Coats and hats go together like peanut butter & jelly!
