I Think I'm Starting a Trend

I'm not sure that I'm a trend setter, more of a stereotypical non-conformist.

I wear a beard, have sleeve tattoos, it was only a matter of time before I found fedoras... Anything to keep me from looking too much like the masses I suppose, but still be able to work a corporate job.

Thanks for the compliments I do love this hat, but I worry I opened Pandora's Box, I have two nearly three hat purchases this month alone.

I just started wearing a hat, I started with an Akubra Angler and I liked it so I purchased an Akubra Stylemaster and have been wearing it to work daily. At first I was just wearing it in the car and then I just said "what the heck" and started walking around in it.

Anyway my boss today switched his office for a cube so another person could meet in his office so I had a good view of his desktop. I'm not nosey but at times your eye looks up and catches what is in view, I couldn't help but notice him shopping for fedoras online. :D

I've also noticed one other guy who used to wear fedoras when I first started working there began wearing it again. Maybe it's a coincidence but I think I'm starting a trend.

Fine hat that goes good with your look. I just started wearing fedoras, so hopefully my impact can be as strong as yours.

*not* setting a trend ...

Coming at it from another angle/r ...

I was walking my dog as usual on a bad weather day in my favourite "rainhat" - Akubra Angler - when the rain turned to hailstones.

most other walkers were wearing wool caps of various types - so their heads were getting increasingly wet and they were being hit in the face by the hailstones - not surprisingly I got a few jealous looks as the stones merrily bounced off my hat and brim, but ....

apart from 1 or 2 of the other hat wearing dog walkers I regularly see, the vast majority will keep squinting into the low Autumn sun and regularly getting wetter than they should - all for the want of doing the sensible thing and wearing a "proper" hat.

So, my puzzlement stems from the lack of a dog-walking hat trend even when common sense is crying out for one, or maybe that's the problem, trends have nothing to do with common sense?

best to all,

Paul.
