Anyways, it's a great song, written by Leon Payne. There are couple of other nice renditions on Youtube (Beasts Of Bourbon and Earl Clifton have great versions).

I love those whacky psycho killer country songs, but then I have a penchant for murder ballads in general.

In advance of tomorrow's Irish shenannigans I have been listening to Glenn Miller's version of the Londonderry Air. Oh, yes, Danny Boy makes all American Irish weep, but I prefer this. Maybe it is because I am not Irish? Tomorrow I will be Irish for the day, though--every one in Los Angeles is, including our mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. He will be at a dinner I am going to--and go to every year--and he will be crying into his beer with the best of them. Happy St. Paddy's Day, everyone!

Love those c. 1933-34 "almost-swing" bands... (although there were some which were already in full swing by then, before Goodman rose to fame) Been on a big Jan Garber kick lately, both his hotter earlier stuff, and his later c. 1939-40 sweeter Brunswick stuff (one of the first 78s I ever got as a kid was a '39 Garber brunswick from Granddad)
