All I've seen of their A2s leads me to believe its a no brainer. IMO we should all be picking these up now before they get more recognized and jack the price up to ELC standards...

I'm gonna hold out for a Kelso Monarch in seal horse... Will keep y'all posted

Concerning the name: Wild Bill Kelso was the character played my John Belushi in the film "1941", which I think is pretty rad/ironic: A blue collar alternative to the Real McCoy/Steve McQueen brand (that costs 3 or 4 times as much)-LOL!!

I'm a great fan of John Belushi and that's the reason because I asked Andy to make my Goodwear A-2 with the old "Bill Kelso" label.

I would think that Bill Kelso can steal a lot of A-2 businesses from Aero if they can keep their price down. Aero, since earlier on this year, have increased their price by nearly 20%, and that is a lot. I am also pretty sure that the cost of manufacturing and tailoring in Spain will be cheaper than in the UK.

Agreed. If they can source local leather too they'll be great - I've always found Spanish leather goods to be high quality at an affordable price - in as much as one can make such generalisations.

Ehm...local+spanish+Kelso? AFAIK they're based in Greece.

Some confusion going round about where Kelso is actually located (including me!)...

I initilally thought Italy, but have since been corrected that they're based out of Greece.

Greece? I always thought they are based in Spain. Well, in that case, I hope they are not affected by the 'collapsing' economy there.
Germany, France & UK etc are pumping money to Greece everyday.

Actually, they are, due to the strikes they have problem receiving the shipments from their suppliers . And the situation there is not fun at all, you can go and have a look by yourself, or just read on the net some article regarding the rate of suicides over there in the last months.

Andy told me that Bill Kelso is based in Greece. He also sent me pictures of the new Rough Wear contract no. 27752 jacket in russet and seal. I'll see if I can figure out how to post pictures...

Put the pictures on a hosting site like Photobucket. Then copy and past the image code into a post. The image code looks like this.

[put the letters img here]http colon //i137.photobucket.com/albums/q217/RobMason_photos/Bill%20Kelso%20A2%20Jacket/P1010447Medium.jpg[/ put the letters img here also]

Then when you have the code in the post, the picture will show up in the post. Like this.

P1010447Medium.jpg

When embeded correctly, then this is what you get. To observe the code, just click "Reply With Quote" and look at how it looks.

Nice pics, and great jacket. Now lets see some with the owner in it.:)

Jaguar66:

Alas, that owner (of a Rough Wear 27752 in Seal Brown) won't be me...I ordered one in russet - because I liked the way yours looked and because of my subsequent correspondence with Andy! I agree, I do also hope someone posts pics of himself with the Seal Brown jacket on....

Cheers!

regius:

Don't worry. If you ordered your jacket today, you probably won't hear anything back until tomorrow (Monday). I've been in contact with Andy and the sales@billkelsomfg.com e-mail address is a working e-mail address. Andy usually does his e-mails during the week. Their offices and production facilities are closed over the weekend, I believe. If you want to mention this post, you can tell Andy that I told you this - my name is Gary. BTW, I don't get a discount if you mention my name!

I forgot to mention: Andy is an American living in Greece where his factory is. He uses Italian leather hides in his jackets, and his jacket craftsman is an Italian. I think three weeks is their standard manufacturing time, so you should probably have your jacket within a month. FWIW, I'm 5'8" tall and I wear a size 41S or 42S suit so I ordered a size 42R jacket. Here is some info and his recommendation for me that Andy sent me when I ordered my jacket:

...provided your stomach measurement does not exceed your chest measurement I recommend size 40. Please see below the measurements of size 40 and 42 in inches so that you can select.

40
---
Pit to pit 22
Back 25
Shoulders 18
Sleeve 25

42
---
Pit to pit 23
Back 25 1/4
Shoulders 18 1/2
Sleeve 25 1/4

Basically you measure your chest, add four inches, and then divide by two, which will give you your jacket pit-to-pit measurement. Give Andy these figures and he'll provide you with your recommended jacket size. I think I was on the border between 40R and 42R, but I went with the 42R because I want a little room to wear a light sweater underneath if I need to.

Hope this helps, enjoy your jacket!

Gary

I just got mine last week. It is terrific. Great seal brown color, nice patina, will take a bit to work it in, but nice HorseHide, lightweight, much lighter than my US Flight ANJ-2 Horse, which was custom made for me. Andy was great all round, answering MANY sizing questions. That said, it fits great and very psyched. This completes my collection! For now......
