I feel like joining the group here,
I would not call myself a lurker, I would call myself an infrequent contributor. I'm nearly 18, I've been sporting the classier side of menswear for nearly four years now, and have absorbed much information from the folks of the forum. As I sit typing right now, I wear blue and cream saddle shoes (blue saddle), cream and brown houndstooth trousers, yellow 50s short sleeved shirt, and my grey Fed IV. Like many have stated here, I feel like dressing for the occasion and being prepared to meet anybody at any time of the day.
I would also add a tip of my hat to the members here who have inspired my passion for ties. There's no feeling like putting on a Bold Look tie featuring a pheasant in flight or the excitement of inspecting a newly discovered treasure for hidden details and feeling the luxurious silk used to fashion these ties.

As one other poster said, he's more of an infrequent contributor than a lurker. I'd describe myself the same way, very infrequent. I discovered the site back in freshman year (now a 21-year-old third-year at university), and am just enamoured with it.
A lot of the interest probably came with the realization that time - the time something takes - is not all that important; things either have happened or they have not, how long ago isn't really relevant (think about this fun one: right now, you're the oldest you've ever been, and you're the youngest you'll ever be.).
Society should progress and improve over time, that's evolution, that's learning. But when I look at the marvels we created this century, from fashion to technology to art, I wonder how we made such better things in general then than now; it seems as though we've taken a few steps back from once-achieved greatness. I'd like to - like the other fine folks on the forum, I'm sure - try to step forward again in progress by taking a look back in time.

I'm 21 years old. I'm very happy to have discover the fedora lounge. My passion for anything between the 1900's to the 1960' had begun when I was 17 years old. At that time I was thinking that I was alone in this world to wear suits, hats, tucked in shirt with hight rise pant, listening to big band music etc... Since then I have alway do my best for bringing back what was lost in the past like chivalry and etiquette that were so common before. I have never really identified with my generation who wear t-shirt, jeans, running shoe and hoodie as headwearand listen to hip hop, metal, electronic music etc... To me they look like child. Anyway I'm really happy to be on the fedora lounge with other people like me.

Welcome! I'm 22 years old and basically in the same boat, as I find it difficult to identify with many aspects of my generation; most music, the majority of fashions, slang, profanity, disregard for education, etc. I don't wear a fedora everyday or dress particularly vintage style (I try to keep my style classic), but my style's the conservative side of modern with a somewhat late '50s through '60s sensibility in mind. For the past three years, I've gradually been trying to increase the formality of my attire, and by 25 I hope to have transitioned to wearing suits and sports jackets with semi-regularity, with more professional shoes, a classic raincoat (I'm thinking a single-breasted mackintosh may be the best start for me, I already own a tweed overcoat), and maybe even an extra hat (there are three felt hats I wear).

My mom says I've wanted to wear suits, ties, and hats since I could walk and talk, so practically my whole life. I think like a lot of people, I started out with the 'Greaser' style and slowly worked my way to a more conservative vintage style.

I'm Thomas, I'm 16, and I sort of came into the vintage scene by accident.
My father always played 1930s to 1950s music and so I grew to love it. Then one day I decided to wear suits for fun. Finally, as of two years ago I went completely vintage (or at least vintage-inspired).
