1 double-breasted midnight blue herringbone pattern
1 dove grey 2 piece suit - altered
1 three-piece beige suit
1 bespoke DB in navy blue
1 bespoke DB in charcoal grey

1 DB navy blazer
1 SB blazer (midnight blue)
1 SB suit jacket in blue pinstripe
1 SB suit jacket - tan
2 Sports coats
1 tuxedo

Since I have lost weight I fit now in all of them (loosely or slim

)

P.S: Pls. don't ask me about counting my shoes, ties, ascots, scarves, breast pockets or fedoras

...

I suppose it is my complete naivety but I had images in my head of every lounger on here owning hundreds of vintage suits. Maybe I feel a little better about my meager collection.

If anything I am going to start trying to hone in on more of the 1930s-1940s stuff. I have some from the 40s, but mostly from the 1950s and 60s, which is still nice. I think the more I read here, the more I am inclined to pass up 50s-60s stuff in favor of the 1930s-1940s, unless it is a really cool fabric and a workable fit, which I definitely find here and there.

I don't own anything from the 30s. Yet!

I am like Thunder and Bugsy too many but not enough. I also have two sets, those when thin and those when not. At one time in my life it was a suit everyday. Not even counting the sport coats which I have just purchased in the past 15 years. Up until the mid 90's you only wore a suit for business never a sport coat. Just lined them up and they rotated themselves.----John

Oh, since I didn't mention it, none of my clothes are vintage, unless you consider 80s vintage (well, I think one of them is 70s). However, they are all well made, classic suits.

Vintage suits (1950-60s): 10 or 11 I think... (12 if we count my tweed shooting suit)
Modern off the rack: 1 (BB linen)
Modern bespoke: 3
Vintage sportcoats (1930s-60s): 7 (9 or 10 if we count tweed shooting jackets)
Modern sportcoats: 5 or so (mostly linen)
Vintage evening tails: 1
Vintage black tie: 1
Vintage white jacket for black tie: 1
Vintage morning dress: 2
Oh dear don't let my wife see this list...

You need a Stroller to go with that otherwise complete collection.

Wow. Yeps is right. You have a really complete wardrobe. And I am fully aware that size 44 is harder to come by than size 38 or even 36

Since the stroller is one step down from the full morning dress it is not really mandatory. But you already have the striped trousers and black jackets are on german ebay from them to time. I could look out for you. But they are fully lined and quite thick...

Thanks! Actually if you do find a black stroller/Stresemen in 44 (54-56?) for a good price I would be very interested. I have all the other kit for the outfit: striped trousers, waitcoats, etc. but the jacket itself it really hard to find... No worries, I love heavy thick coats! Not great for Hawaii, but my goal is a good wardrobe for when I move back to someplace with a proper temperate/cool climate. Ideally back to France one day...

Like thunderw21 - too many but not enough. I believe, in terms of vintage wardrobe, in rotation. One must have enough that stuff is unlikely to wear out through overuse.

Modern shoes approx 10 pairs. Vintage shoes, a couple pairs.

All 1930s-40s:
Shirts approx x30
British suits x10
US suits approx x20
Sports coats - mostly US - approx x20
Leather jackets - British and US - x10-12
3 Overcoats - one US, one German, one British
Around 600 or so wearable neckties - vast majority US - and about 20 bow ties. Another 100 or so ties in the necktie graveyard.

I have a maximum of four suits and I also never wear them usually. Moreover I don't believe in increasing the counts of suits in my wardrobe, because these are meant for special occasion and I don't find any time to go over any occasions, however I have a good number of ties and shirts that can be used for this purpose. Blazers can be altered any time.

i personally find this talk of numbers rather vulgar. besides, as any collector will tell you, it's not the suits a gentleman already owns that matter; it's the suits he doesn't yet own.

True... but somebody already mentioned he imagined all the Loungers to have hundreds of suits. Most have a far smaller number and mix and match. Also workwear, short jackets etc are a viable addition to a vintage wardrobe. Some of us even concentrate on them. So I don't think this is really about boasting.

Comparing a collector of size 35 and size 45 would be unfair anyway.
