I was strolling with the wife through our local grocery store here (Safeway, if you live in northern CA) and saw these hat boxes for sale. Actually they weren't really "hat boxes," but I have no idea what they are for, and they work well for the hats I needed them for. Their normal price is $30 but they were half price, $15. They aren't big enough for most my hats, but I have two hats with 2 in brims, and these boxes were a perfect fit with a little left over:

One is circular:

and the other is square. I was able to put a slightly larger hat in this one by turning it diagonally:

Actually, that's very cool. I don't think I've ever seen hat boxes for sale. If it were me, I'd use some of those plastic hat stands, inside the hats, inside the boxes. That way the brims wouldn't become too perfectly flat over time.

Blackthorn, we have a store close by called Winners Homesense which is TJ Max in the states and they always had these round boxes for sale in different sizes so I would just buy one when I would get a new hat but around a year ago they just stop selling them and now I wish I had stocked up. I never knew what they were meant for but they are great for hats.

Interesting, G MAN. They will definitely keep the moths out. I have paid $50 for similar hat boxes that have an insert where the hat fits, to keep it in good shape. These have no insert, but I'll just be careful as I put them up on the shelf. How much were they selling for up in Ontario?

They were between $15 to $20
I use the circular cardboard insert from the original shipping boxes and place the hat in on it`s crown just like when it was shipped. I have seven of them but need a couple more but they are hard to find now. I still look for them when we go into a Winners. You never know what you will find there.
