Moustache wax review

So PADDY, how has the Bounder been working for you and how has your moustache come along since you last posted your pics?

Been following the advice of handlebarmoustachelife.com in regards to my own stache. He suggested the use of Got2Bglued gel out of a tube and glue sticks. They both seem to be working. And my wife likes the handlebar so I think it'll stay for a long time. I've got to figure out how to post pictures. I'm no treat to look at, but me saying I have a handlebar moustache and me showing that I have a handlebar moustache are two entirely different things.

I used to sport a fully waxed handlebar for years, and the best advice I can give for Moustache wax is this stuff (especially if you are looking for a good

After reading up on the thread, I purchased Hndlebars' "Big Ring" mustache wax and have been using it for a couple weeks now. I have very coarse mustache hair that grows practically straight down, but I like the ends to turns outwards sideways at the corners of my mouth instead of flopping down toward my chin. So far, I'm quite happy with Hndlebars' wax. I probably have to use a little more than some folk because of my hair, but even then it is a very small amount scraped out of the warmed tin with my fingernail end. I find it holds pretty well for about half the day, but I usually have to reapply some to the curved area because after lunch and other activities the last 1/4 sags a bit.

As others have said, the smell might not appeal to some people, but I don't find it necessarily overpowering or repulsive by any means. According to Hndlebars' website, it's the lanolin, with which I agree. However, I wouldn't say it is "earthy" as he describes it but more of a synthetic smell--almost like the smell of new elastic after drying in the sun or clothes drier. It's pungent for the first couple minutes, but then I don't notice it. I imagine that those who are very sensitive to heavier smells or perfumes should stay away because of this and try to find something with a strictly beeswax smell.

I must say, though, considering how expensive most of these small-batch waxes are in relationship to the tiny 1 oz. quantity (which after all should last a while), I think I'll be making use of the many moustache wax recipes out there that will allow for a 16+ oz batch for under $30.

I got the Red Hot and the All Nighter scents.

The scents are potent at first but eventually fade to a hint throughout the day. The Red Hot smells like cinnamon and clove (maybe more like clove). The All Nighter has a scent like a familiar leather jacket and pipe tobacco (but not the smoke just the unburnt tobacco). Very warm and autumn like scents. Perfect for this time of year.

The hold of these waxes are a medium hold. It will hold your curl while still lending towards a softer bushier look instead of that slicked down look. It will hold the end curls fairly tight but you may need to reapply somewhere in the afternoon to keep the tight ends,especially if you like that English style.

For me, to prevent having to do that, I put a little Firehouse Wacky Tacky on the tips for an all day hold. then I don't have to worry about a reapply. Inthe colder days this wax will also set firmer and hold a good long time. I was out in the rain all Day Friday and it held very well. None of the dreaded droop to speak of.

So if you handlebar wearers like a nice warm scented moustache this stuff will do the trick. They also have a couple of other scents but I haven't tried themas of yet. Man's Face stuff also has an unscented variety for those that want to go without a scent under their nose.

I'm hoping to purchase some of Foad's wax and Mr. Natty's Twizzle Wax here in the near future to see how they hold and what kind of scents they carry.

Just purchased a tin of Foad Moustache Wax and a tin of Mr Natty's Moustache twizzle wax.When they come in I will review them after a few days use on each one. First time using a British wax.

One of the great disappointments in my life is that I can't pull off a decent handlebar. By the time I get to the "long ends" to curl up, they're sad and measly strands.

I've tried Bounder, Mr Taylor's and Captain Fawcett's waxes, and have found Bounder to be much the best for me. It applies quite easily, smells pleasant and holds my relatively fine 'lip weasel' hairs in place very well.

Maybe that's what I need to try, then.

The Return of the Dapper Stache! Now with 100% more goatee!

This was styled with Hndlebars moustache wax. It has 3 ingredients: bee's wax, vasoline, lanolin. Smells nice but doesn't have a very strong odor, mostly the bee's wax. I find it somewhat hard to work with as you really have to heat it up to soften it a bit, but it was cheap and seems to work decently well. Never tried any other as the experiment of the dapper stache was very hated by the wife last time hehe. I wonder if all moustache waxes would be similar to this, or if others might suit me better.

My stache frustrates me - on the left side it always gets this perfect little curl, but on the right something goes horribly awry! It was the same last time, so I guess I'm stuck with it Maybe more wax will fix it...

I use Firehouse wax, I always like to support fellow fireman.
