Mould attack on leather jacket help!

i have a couple of horse and goat and leather jackets , and they get moulds every rainy season ! .. i live in a tropical country.
how do i treat it? and what do i do so that moulds dont go to them?

Air your jackets in the hot sun for a few hours. Spray Fabreze on your jackets and again air your jackets in the hot sun for a few hours. If these measures fail, take your jackets to a trusted cleaner experienced with leather jackets. If all of these measures fail, consider moving you and your jackets to Arizona.

Elephant Leather Preserver prevents mildew. It is used by museums to restore leather and to prevent damage. I assume Pecards has a similar effect.

My process

1) Dry out leather item
2) Remove surface mold with damp cloth
3) Dry out again
4) Clean dried leather thoroughly with gentle soap like baby shampoo

If you want to follow Silk Doll's (doncha just love that name) method, a better substitute for the cleaner would be saddle soap or Lexol leather cleaner. Both of these products are specifically made for leather care. Lexol comes in both the conditioner and the cleaner. I have used all three of these products on saddles and tack for over 25 years with good results.

yes i have stock of the lexol cleaner in the orange bottle and the non darkening conditioner. ok ill try to use them and maybe dillute them in water?

In my experience mold grows where it is both fed well and undisturbed. That usually means a dirty or greasy jacket in a dark damp place. As I've previously posted about, I wash almost all of my jackets in a front-load washer (cold water, woolite, inside out and zipped), and then air dry them. Hence they are really, really clean. That-- and avoiding neatsfoot or other animal fats--has had the effect of preventing mold on my jackets for years.

I've had good results with Vinegar. I'm about to try Alcohol...on both the Jacket and myself. haha, it's a never ending struggle...mould that is.
