My grandmother was probaby more vociferous than you are about Thanksgiving. She thought they lost the meaning of Thanksgiving and Christmas. To get her to put up a tree every year was a quite a chore.

Sometimes I think people have forgotten the message of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Especially Thanksgiving. It's all about Black Friday deals around that time. I'm quite surprised they haven't turned Black Friday into a national holiday yet.

I like to see Christmas like that again (like when I was a kid--it was so fun and magical). Working in retail for so many years has kind of ruined Christmas for me. I've really seen the worst in people around that time.

Black Friday is flat-out scary. It's amazing to see how a civilized people become over 'great deals'... trampling over eachother for the newest plastic item, or the latest pocket-computer, and what-not....
