Every body out there with the same sad experience?

Bonjour,
What is the exact nature of the problem? If the zipper rails don't interlock into each other, then it's a problem with loose zipper slider - which happens from time to time. And it's quite easy to fix it as long as you have a new zipper slider and a zipper stop.

that's serious. maybe you should contact ELC to get the rail or the jacket itself replaced..

Before everyone gets you all huffy and puffy, I would contact them first. They may well say "of course we will sort it, we will send you a return label". For a £500 jacket, it is if they say "not our problem" you then turn into a fire breathing monster!

Oh, you have just received the jacket! Then I guess leave them an email, especially if you were buying the jackt direct from them.
I guess sending the jacket back to the UK from Paris is not going to be expensive even if you need to pay a bit of the extra.
But I guess Eastman will be willing to fix the zipper for you (they are making some very good money at the moment...).

If you use the "e-mail" link on the Eastman site, it invariably does not work.

If you send a email from your regular email client, it should get a response - use jackets@eastmanleather.com.

Alternatively, do ring them - they are cool guys - I'm sure they'll sort the problem out for you :D

ok thank you all guys and i don't want to be misunderstood , i'm not a rookie when it comes to estman jacket (2 A2s , 1 G1,1 ANJ-4 , an Irvin and last but not least the B3) so I do know how polite and efficient they are .

Interesting it came with a Talon zip as they advertise it as having a Crown on their site. If you decide to call them Thursdays are best as Gary is often available then, they will go out of their way to ensure the problem gets sorted but I can understand your annoyance...good luck and hopefully once fixed you will get plenty of wear out of the B-3.

I could never get them to respond to my emails either. Actually they would respond, but only when they wanted money. I won't do business with them again. Good luck on your zip. If you can ever get their attention, I'm sure they will make it right. Will be a simple matter to send you a new bottom stop.

Hi Septimus - great you have reached Gary finally - in addition I want to recommend Mr. Rob Brace at Eastman rob@eastmanleather.com, who has corresponded to my recent replies very quickly and kindly on several occassions.
In fact I've experienced a similar issue with my Eastman B-3 Time Worn (which I own no longer). I ordered a size 40 to have a rather trim fit, and maybe this had caused the problem: on the left hand bottom side of the zipper the fabric was lacerated after a few times of wear. I've pulled the side adjustment straps tight, and this may put the rather small dimensioned zipper under too much "pull". I was able to repair it by myself (sewing), but the jacket was a bit too snug fitting, and I sold it finally. I have an 2006 Eastman B-3 model left which fits more roomy and comfortably (a size 42) and the zipper (also small) has no issues at all. Good luck to your repair journey and remember not to draw the waist in too much ;-). Regards, Thomas.
