I might have felt different about the movie had I not read the book. I tried to enjoy the movie as if I had never read the book or as if there had never beena book but I just wasn't really entertained.

A couple of years ago, I bought my Brother Inlaw a Red Rider BB Gun for Christmas, in honor of the movie. No, he still hasn't put an eye out with it!I seem to notice that. Even my brother-in-law came over and wanted to see it.

Since it's in the 20's outside, I decided on Jack Frost.
This is a Russian fairy tale film, with comments by the guys at Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Because of his actions, Jack is turned into a bear by "the king of mushrooms."
How can this not be funny?

I'm thinking this movie is more likely based on someone's mushroom trip than on a fairy tale.

The last one I saw at the Cinema - a lovely Art Deco building called the Showroom here in Sheffield, was 'The Hobbit'. The last one I saw on tv was 'Singing In The Rain'. Quite a contrast - the first was three hours long but was so enjoyable it flashed by and the second had the best dancing scene ever made - IMHO (the title piece).

It's supposed to be a Russian fairy tale based on Father Frost. But he doesn't even come into the movie until the last (probably had the best agent so he wasn't in the movie and ruining his career as long as the other actors).
Oddly enough this movie gets a 4.9 on it's own, without the MST3K treatment.
At least this one has a story line unlike many of the MST3K movies, which of course is the whole point of the show.

Danger Signal (Warners, 1945), with Zachary Scott, Faye Emerson, Rosemary DeCamp, Bruce Bennett (who I just learned lived to the ripe age of 100), and the still-working Dick Erdman. Scott plays a virtual "lady killer," who marries women for their money and then disposes of them. Co-written by the unsung Adele Commandini (a biography needs to be written about her), filmed by the legendary James Wong Howe, and directed by Robert Florey (Murders in the Rue Morgue). Contains a few shots of Los Angeles beaches. 7 out of ten stars...

Just finished Resevoir Dogs, now watching The Greatest Show on Earth, one of my little surprises during Christmas. I love this movie, its so kitschy and Charleton Heston does a great job.
