Recently, I've been buying some things on my bucket list and I've always wanted a Humpback Browning. When I was a kid growing up in Carteret County, NC, it seemed that every duck hunter worth his salt used an A-5 or a Remington Model 11. This one is a 1952 FN Light twelve. Its got a full choked, thirty-inch barrel...the perfect vintage duck gun. It hasn't arrived yet. Lacking my own FFL, I had to get a friend to accept shipment. The seller says it may take a week or so to transfer the paperwork and get it to me. These are two of the seller's photos.

Not exactly changing the subject, but if you ever need custom scope bases/mounts, Steve Earle does excellent work.

I needed a taller rear block (by 0.090) for my baby rolling block.
With the scope operating near the top of the Unertl ring, my windage had been unreliable.
This was a custom Posa mount, 0.425 height on 0.525 centers.
He delivered in 3 days for $16.

Guys! Anybody picked up a 73 Colt single action Army lately? Have these gone throught the roof or come down any with the recession? What would I pay ( range ) for a nice one right now? thanks John
The firearms market has remained strong, mostly as a result of the last presidential election. For a Colt manufactured Single Action Army you can expect to pay +/- $1000. For an imported SAA, expect to pay $500-$600 for a new gun, with used SAA's starting at about $450. Prices will vary according to locale, and for an accurate picture of values where you live, you might want to check out www.armslist.com.

Hardly vintage but from a very old firm who manufacture it in the U.S.
Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal, Model FNS 9mm. As you can see it is totally ambidextrous (OK apart from the take-down latch) so if you need to share with a wrong handed spousal unit....as I do...
it's good to go.

Been a hectic past six months. After 21 years of congestive heart failureWifey's heart finally plays out in August. Sept 5th she got an "LVAD" installed. Heart pump. So things are a bit different these days. Still smithing at least three days a week.

I hope your wife gets better! Would love to see the Cimmaron 1873. Been reading all kinds of good things about the .45 LC. Always wondered what one could do loaded up with modern smokeless, very powerful. Probably to much for your 73, but still a great round. Do you have the matching Peacemaker?

You're limited to about 20,000 psi CUP on a modern '73 replica - which is about twice the old black powder loads, but nowhere near what's possible with modern powders.
I load .357 to about 1400 fps with 4227 and safe chamber pressures for my Chaparral 1873 replica. If I had it to do over again, though I would buy the Uberti.
Word is out that Miroku will be producing limited edition 1873s under the Winchester Brand - only in .357 (which is a virtual ballistic twin of .38-40). These are not replicas, but are 1873s with modern metallurgy. They are also reported to be competitively priced with Uberti.

As soon as I can post pics again I will. Sure has heck dunno how to post 'em from this thing!! The 1873 was a fluke! Guy had it wrapped up in a piece of plastic in his gun safe. Had light surface rust on it for condensation. Nothing serious. Practically got it for a song!!!! Unfired! Still had the warning tag on lever!!
On another note. Wifey was able to bust a monster wild hog right off the back porch of the place here back in November. Less than 2 months after her surgery! She used her old Winchester model 88 in 308 win.
