I doubt many people have fixed as many cars as you have in such a short time. You are what we call an expert here.

The radiator wasn't a 31, though. It was a modern job to keep up with the 350.
Expert? Hardly. I'm just a shadetree mechanic who knows enough to be dangerous. More often than not, my dad or brother, who are far better mechanics than me have to bail me out.

Ah, that might be the problem. My old copper core radiators might have been better for it to stick to.
Yeah well the rest of us out here don't even attempt to do anything like that because we know better. In fact, right now my 57 is in the shop to get the gas tank sending unit replaced. I might have sourced a new part but I am not going to replace it myself---especially pulling a gas tank to do it. You know how much a full tank weighs?!

Dropping a gas tank is easy. Especially in MoPars. My brother's fell off in his '86 Ram and mine was sitting on the driveshaft of my '89 Ram when I bought it. Had to replace the one in the '73 Satellite as well. A couple hoses and straps and it's outta there.

When may I bring the Ford around? The battery needs new separators and the main and connecting rod bearings need to be taken up. The brake band is pretty well worn, in fact I've been using the reverse pedal to brake for some time. The triple gear bushings in the transmission seem to be a bit loose, too. Car needs a thorough going over and I can't get to the work, as I spend most of my time these days caring for the 'rents and attending to my sadly diminished business.

Does our Vintage Town automotive chronology extend to '60's-era muscle cars? I grew up working on Pontiac GTO's, Chevy 396's, Olds 442's and such and those made working on cars worthwhile - lots(!) of bang for the buck. If so, I want a part-time job at the garage (high-performance annex).
(Being a Southern boy, my mechanic's outfit was,and would be, a pair of blue jeans, a (very) dirty white T-shirt, and a baseball cap. No red rag, though...)
