What are your hobbies?

Veggie gardening with heirloom varieties. And trying to hybridize my own seeds. Usually unsuccessfully. :eusa_doh:

I'm in the market for a Sekonda calibre 3017 Strela. The 3017 Strelas (produced between 1959 and 1978) are much sought after by Russian watch collectors and can command hefty prices. Poljot 3133 Strelas are also available.

You might want to start looking for Poljot chronographs because they recently stopped making the calibre 3133 movement so I suspect that in the near future they will become a bit more pricier. Mine is a Soviet air force issue Sturmanskie made in 1988 -- it has the military exclusive 31659 hacking version of the 3133. The 3133 is a Russian cousin of the Valjoux 7733 and 34 movements which can be found in many chronographs from the '70s.

I've started to delve into mixed media art - using different types of materials to make something unique. I needed another creative outlet besides my writing, so this is what I chose.

I'm a man with many, many hobbies. The main ones I stick with are fishing related (fly fishing for trout and deep sea fishing for just about anything) and other general outdoors hobbies such as hike and mountain bike. I'm also a part-time EMT, which I consider more of a hobby than a career since my day job is completely unrelated (computer programming).

In addition, I like to learn how to do just about everything for myself because it gives me a greater appreciation for the things that I buy. For example, I have made beer and wine (worked briefly as a winemaker many years ago), I tie my own flies for fishing, have run coral reef fishtanks, learned to play numerous instruments, have built furniture, alter/make clothing for custom needs, landscape, cook, grow fruits and vegetables, and more. I have also spent a lot of my adult life learning more about biology, geology, archaeology and history, chemistry, physics, forensics, and some law (from my wife, who went to law school). If I had my choice, I'd be a life-long student and earn as many degrees as possible, though it's just not very practical, so I learn what I can when I can.

Oh! I am much the same, have a few degrees,but I want to go back to school for everything. On the sideline I did roller blade 50-60 miles per week. Major wipe out and broken leg. Don't roller blade anymore, but will mountain bike now. Collect everything. Love to give my wife surprise jewelry, especially South Sea island pearls. Coins in the past, they were sold, but now some Ky Art and I love and try to learn more about regional art in Kentucky. Really a beginner! Love to talk, learn, and travel. Let's go!---John

Have you tried assemblage? It's great. I did it for years, I would love to find the time to pick it back up again. I would also like to see pics!

Baking (most recently experimenting with gluten free baking. Good gracious those specialty flours cost an arm and a leg!)
SCA (on occasion)

Container gardening

In the past I have made mead, participated in live action role play games, and painted miniatures.

I also collect (is collecting a hobby?) vintage patterns, vintage cookbooks, vintage clothing, salt and pepper shakers, and ideas.

Some leather work mostly Patching and modifying my thrift store leather jackets also picked up some hat blanks when my regular hat shop closed up so I have been making my own. Lately those have both taken a backseat for my studies the only hobby imp keeping up With these days has been card tricks and that mostly for dexterity purposes to make my hands more surgery ready

Writing is what I mainly do, but I also love to cook, sew, crochet, knit and embroider. I used to be heavily into music (of the modern variety). I even wrote for some music blogs, but I'm starting to feel my age so I'm getting out of touch (just can't be bothered to care anymore). I've always been a history buff (studied it for a few years at the university) and I probably care more about mid 18th century politicians than is quite healthy (see my history blog). Right now I'm thinking I might combine my writing and my love for the Golden Era... But we'll see about that.

I used to draw and paint but that was long time ago. Once upon a time I even sailed, but I don't have a boat anymore. I'm thinking of starting to collect Swedish 30s-60s mysteries again, which is something I did before. I still have a rather extensive collection, mostly by authors no one has heard of today.

I love to sew, knit, and crochet--right now, exclusively 1930s and 1940s patterns. My main hobby since last spring has been to retrofit my minuscule bungalow to the late 1930s. That's been a lot of fun and a lot of work, but since I already owned many of the items (toaster, iron, cooking pots, waffle maker, 1930s-1940s rotary phones and so on) it hasn't been too expensive. Just a real learning curve working up the knowledge (and incidentally the courage) to master these things. Actually, the FL, particularly LizzieMaine, has been very helpful & patient in that process.

Other than that, I'm stunningly boring. I love gardening, but I'm horrible at it. Thank goodness for spring, when all is forgiven and I get another chance.

Blog when I can, knit when I can, traveling... and I recently started collecting vintage cosmetics. My friend is a Westmore relative and she gifted me with a few and it's growing quite nice

I'm still hanging on to my French horn & trumpet from school- when I have time would love to pick up lessons again. I go through spurts of studying French. My work has picked up so much that I don't have long periods of time anymore to concentrate.

I have only one hobby that suits to TFL, and that's tap dancing (as well smoking pipes, and other things like that, but i don't consider it as hobby

). My other hobbies are scuba diving, paragliding, reading books, and i'm sweating blood to finish my novel

I still enjoy building scale plastic model airplanes, just as I did as a kid. I spend a little more time on construction than I did as a kid, hoping to achieve some authentic result. I envy these guys that can build museum pieces complete with readable instrument panels and engine wiring!! Mine are adequate but I have much appreciation for the expertise of some of those master model builders.

Sorry off topic,I went diving for the 1st and only time(hopefully not last) in 04,we snorkel quite a bit but I really liked being in the same element with the sealife!!
