Golden Era treats

So today I finished a major horrible project that nearly did me in, for which I will get no recognition (at least not unless I toot my own horn, which is embarrassing & generally only produces irritation anyway) so I decided to treat myself.

My treat will be to play hookey from work & take a brief toddle to the hardware store to pick up, oh, I don't know, some little doo-dads, we'll have to see what looks appealing.

What's your idea of a little treat for being good? I'm asking specifically about golden era-style treats. For example, maybe a walk in the park? A half-price matinee? A new pair of white cotton anklets? A piece of penny candy?

For me, it's flopping into the living room chair with the radio on and a newspaper over my face for half an hour or so, ignoring all obligations. Sheer luxury.

Picking up some handmade fudge; there's a lady in town who makes it behind the counter she serves from. The movies are still a treat, if I only go occasionally and only to see something I'm very excited about.

I love the good old fashioned buy myself a new dress and shoes bit. Then my cute hubby and I can go to dinner all dressed up.
