Ladies, a few questions on Nivea.

I have been using it on my hands with wonderful results. Could I use it on my face as a moisturizer?

If so, could I use it for the eyes as well?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

I've never used it on my whole face or eyes but i have used it on random dry patches on my face with no adverse effects.

What works on the hands may not work on the face AT ALL. The hands can usually take a lot more things than the face can in general, pretty certain this is true for most. There is a very big difference between using something on the hands, and using it on the face. Remember that you use your hands to do everything, the skin there is thougher.

Frankly I would not reckomend nivea at all, I would say stay away from it. It's one of the brands that people easily have bad reactions to, I can't use it even on legs or arms, it burns, I can't imagine what it would do to my face. Eventhough it is a well known brand, widespread and much advertized, it doesn't mean it's good. I'm sure many use it though. It's up to the individual to decide what's right for oneself, and what's conveneient or necessary, and what's the right price.

Brands that I'd reckomed people to try would be MD Formulations, Dermalogica, Matis and Origins.

My mom has ALWAYS used Nivea, the smell alone reminds me of her. She used/uses it on her face and neck. I do as well, on my hands and all over my face. I have never had a bad reaction to it. That being said I don't use it every night. I use coconut oil basically as a cold cream to remove my make-up at night and put a little extra on to moisturize.

At this time of year in the midwest, Nivea cream (in the blue tin) is the only thing that keeps the dry patches on my face under control. It works great under the rare times I use foundation but I do have very dry skin. I've never intentionally used it on my hands, though I can't see it harming them given how well it works on my more sensitive face.

I hope it is okay for me to post here, being male and all, but I use Nivea aftershave lotion "sensitive" and it works very well as a moisturizer. One of my faves next to Trumpers Coral Skin Food and Trufitt and Hill Trafalgar

I find that Nivea Soft (comes in a white plastic pot similar to the small blue tin of regular Nivea comes in) is nicer for my face. The container even says, face/body/hands. I suggest you try a small amount on your face for 3 days. If you don't have a reaction, then go a head and use all over your face.

Thank you all for your answers. I did use it on my face and eyes, and had no bad reaction. In fact I like it, but I made the decision to use it mostly on my body, and occasionaly on the face. Particularly as a night cream, because during the day you need something with sun protection. I don't know how nivea would react under the sun, on the face. I will not use it for the eyes though.

It has done wonders on my elbows, and body in general. But I think that it will not be very pleasant to use during the summer.

By the way, I am talking about the classic, german made, blue tin box nivea.

Oh my..............Greece. You can use olive oil near your eyes. Again, test it first in a small area for a few days to be sure. Coconut oil is great for your skin too. Your summers are very hot and humid, I would find a moisturizer for oily skin for the summer months.

The German made Nivea is the best. It's very hard to find here in the US.

Yes, there are many home recipes for cosmetics with olive oil, and one of them is to use it pure on your skin. Of course you should use a minimum amount, because it stays on you and it's not nice.


I can tell you many ways to use olive oil. On a piece of cotton gently apply around your eyes for nutrition. Mixed with very few drops of fresh lemon juice, for whitening dark spots on the face and hands. On dry lips, apply pure every night. Equal amounts of olive and almond oil for makeup removal. Warm olive oil (just a little!) and dip your fingers in for 5-10 min., to strengthen the nails. After hair removal, it reduces irritation drastically. Some also use it as a sunblock for the face, but I have to check on what the experts think of that (I 've never done that).

There are recipes for masks on hair, face, body, everything. They include honey, eggs etc.

Just make sure the oil is the best. If you can, always go for the extra virgin type. The absolute top.


I also love almond oil myself, which is wonderful for de makeup as well.

I'd say it depends on your skin. My SO has been using the lotion on his head and face after he shaves for years and loves it.

I tried the Ponds coldcream, witchhazel and nivea cream regime for a while and found that my pores became enlarged- it was too greasy for me. I switched to clarins and my skin is much better.

I hear that most of the ingrediants and texture are very similar to Creme de la Mer. Both contain mineral oil, though, which is not great for my skin- but others seem to tolerate it well.

Just popping in to say I did use Nivea soft in the white pot, and I love it for the face. In fact, I will be using it for quite sometime, at least untill the heat gets too much. Yes, it is a bit "rich" so to speak, but my oily skin absorbs it. What can I say?
Of course I also have another tube of cream in use, bepanthol for eyes and face. Very good, I recommend it, and very practical. I don't think it's wrong to use two creams, is it? Nivea is so economical (another plus). I will give you a long term review at some point.
