Those are the exact boots that I keep eyeing... I keep thinking I might like em better than the motor patrols as well...

My original link wasn't working, so try this:

Here is a link to Wesco's page - click on my link below.

Now click on "Men's Custom".

Then click on the box that says "Preview Custom Boot Features".

Finally, click on the box on the right that says "Pull On Boot Options"

Now, if you scroll down, you can see all the toe profiles:

Not to hate on those boots, but I think they look a little odd to have a toe with that low profile and that super thick sole. Would look better with a single midsole and leather/rubber half sole.

^ that's funny because those are the exact reasons I like em so much ;)

Question for those in the know- black smooth or black fire? Which do you prefer and why? I know I won't get the brown patina fade in either, but will one wear better than the other? Seems like black fire is the most popular, but is that just because its the leather choice for the Narrows?

If you were going for a pure 40's/50's engineer with a low profile toe, I don't think you would never see that much stacked midsole or heel. I think these are some pretty nicely done Wesco boots:

I had already checked several months ago and the western toe is a standard option if you order. No problem. I love the western toe but I am a cowboy boot fan and wore Luccheses throughout the 90's. That is a good looking boot and striking. About 10 years ago I ordered a brown Wesco lined 14" boot with tapered toe and they were good looking. Matt I like those Wescos they look lined are they? I cannot tell from the picture. How old are those?

Still hung up on how bad I want that Cuban heel- if absolute must than western toe it is, if not critical then I'll probably go with the PT...

Just a quick post to note that I received a new pair of Mister Freedom Road Champs today. All I can say is, Wow! I won't post pics because I'm sure you all know what the look like. They are a kind of chocolate brown color like you would see on the company's web site currently. For me they fit true to size. I wear a 10D in most shoes and boots and the size 10 is just right. They are comfortable right out of the box, nice thick supple leather, and I think before long they will be feeling like a good pair of slippers as some have mentioned. They about broke me up in business financially, but I think it was worth it.

Nice, you will enjoy them. I love mine. They are a little too wide for me, but otherwise they are super comfortable

Thanks Pelican. About the only issue I am having is a little difficulty getting them on. Once on they are great. The fit is much like my Frye Rands. Kinda hard to get them on too depending somewhat on the type of socks I wear with them. The style of the RC's and Frye's is similar though.

Congratualtions on the boots. I would love to own a pair, but I am true size 13. So still Wescos and soon Nomads. Post some pics later.

Kyboots...Thanks very much. I am wearing them at work today and they are comfortable and I think looking pretty good too. I'm quite pleased with them. The Nomads will be nice. Once I recover from this purchase, I think I'll look at a pair of those maybe. Thanks again.

I'll update on the break-in as time passes. I am not close to Portland. Actually, almost in California, clear on the other end of the state.

The Road Champs are king; congrats!

I'm just hopeful some custom patrol toes will satisfy my hunger for them
