These two 1940s 'Summer-Weight' suits arrived today. They are very light. some mothing on each, but I am not bothered by it. I need to invest in a pair of brown shoes so I can wear the brown one out and about! The brown one does not have a company label.

Two Great finds!
Hi folks, I've got a few shots of a linen suit I had made here in Vietnam. The linen is a great quality, but I feel like the chest and shoulders are a bit over-built. Well - I'll try a more slight and relaxed look next time.
The picture was taken in the 17th century riverside town called Hoi An, which is a must-see for a person wanting to do any sort of vintage photo shoot. I took the color out of the pictures because: 1. it fits with the overall image of the town, 2. in the fading light, the color was so washed out that it looked better to take it out entirely.

On the hat thread I frequent, I said that my wife was acting strangely and I though she may have purchased me something like a hat.
Well, well. I was right about the behavior--wrong about the hommy. But It will go well with any of my brown fedoras.
She set up a trail of clues throughout the house to find...dah, dah, dah...a VINTAGE, CRICKETEER, PRINCE OF WALES CHECK SUIT (I hope that's right).
Light brown with light blue accent color. 2 button, single vent. The vest has a belt in the back. Gotta be '70s I'm thinking because the bottom of the pant legs are quite large.
The only thing I need to do is take in the length of pant legs a bit. Very pleased w the fit overall. It just seems like new, by the way. Hope you dig it. I'll post it again when I wear it sometime soon.
If you remember this from ebay and it was a different age than I guessed, let me know.

Cookie, yes. It seems very well built, similar to the tweed sport coat I have of the same maker. The pants got dropped off yesterday to the tailor and I just got the call from her that they're done already. Usually it is a two week wait. She must know I'm itchin' to wear that suit.

Bigger suits do surface time to time, but as Rudie is alluding too, they are few and far between.
Your best bet is to message some of the high profile ebay sellers or get ahold of a local vintage clothing store and ask them to alert you if they get something in your size. Be prepared to pay alot for it, but that's just the way it goes.

Most of the stuff I pick up the UK is 38-40" chest with 32-24" waist, more to the point much of it is 70's 80's occassionaly 50's/60's and apart from my qestionable 1947 British suit I've never seen any 40's or CC41 stuff at all, even on the Bay it's rare but as has been said when it does come up expect to pay large for it!

I wear a size 46/48 and i can vouch for how difficult it is to find stuff in that size. Last year I picked up a late forties double breasted suit that was actually too big and had to be altered. But it is out there. So don't despair - just be prepared to be patient.
I suppose the advice might be: don't be too fussy, buy what you find and make the most of it until you find exactly what you are looking for.

Bullock's Wilshire, likely from the 1960s. It's in great condition, not to mention that it fits perfectly. Found it at a thrift store in Pasadena for $40, a worthy investment.
