I've seen it at the local hobby shop but don't have it. Here's some more shots of my 1:50 scale, 1973 vintage, American LaFrance ladder truck (Corgi #1143)

According to the Manfred Gihl book the real thing was made between 1947 and 1956. Interestingly enough, the two German fire engine books I have are signed by the author and inscribed to the books' original owner, a Buena Park, CA fire captain. And this is something I'd like to see, the Los Angeles Fire Department Museum also has a large collection of toy fire engines.

Great photo of the extended ladder. I did not know, that of all the fire fighting equipment, the ladder trailers have the longest life. Some lasted for 50 years, with different tractors, and many modifications!

I had some Dinky's when I was a kid. I traded Matchbox cars to some of my friends who got them in England. I had a few friends with English mothers who married GIs. Mine were of course worn out by the time they went in the trash. Still, I wish I would have saved just one, for sentimental reasons!

In storage, we have a set of...Hornby...model trains, I believe. My dad bought them years ago. I'm not entirely sure, but they must be about 25-30 years old by now.

My father, r.i.p had an entire German train set from the 30's I used to play with as a kid. It has unfortunately though been lost to time. Hope to revive a vintage train someday, but lack the room at the moment.

My mother had some old tin Halloween decorations from the 50's. Have to see if she still has those.

I collect lionels. Recently moved my collection into 5 rollaway toolboxes for safe storage. My collection is mostly 1950s and earlier.

Occaisionally i may find some other cool vintage toy. Just snagged an erector 10 1/2 set. Its going to the auction though. Last i need is another thing to collect.

All I can think about is the seen in The Thin Blue Line, where Rowan Atkinson reminiscing about playing with his Meccano set. A boy alone in his room, grasping his tool.

What a coincidence! I just finished watching My Classic Car, were Dennis took a 1953 Oldsmobile convertible out for a test drive. Nice find as usual, you never cease to amaze! Can't wait to see your next find.
