Charlie Chan in the Secret Service. Really short, but it was a good whodunit! Then the wife and I watched Doomed to Die, which was the first Boris Karloff flick either of us have seen. It was really good, as well. Both were on Netflix.

I always love episodes with Birmingham Brown in them. He was one of the funniest comedians of that time. He never gets the credit he deserves---especially with his incomplete sentences shtick.
Then again there was also Charlie's daughter......

There was one movie in which Charlie Chan participated in one of the skits as well. It was hilarious. Too bad Hollywood PC of the time killed his career and he ended up dying broke and a broken man.:eusa_doh:

Of the 50s and 60s. From 1949-1956 he only got three films done. Before that he was doing five or even six a year. He had a stroke in the early 60s and that just about ended his career but he made a few more appearances----one on the Bill Cosby Show in 1970. He would have been great on Sanford and Son if he had lived that long. He died in 1973 if I remember correctly.

Oh, man, one of my favorite Noirs. Dana Andrews is great in the role of the thug-hating detective who's trying to prove that he isn't cut from the same block of wood as his gangster father, only to discover that he really isn't that different. And Tierney's lovely in that film, even with shorter hair...

Les Miserables - I'm no musical fan, but this is a masterwork. The live capture of the vocal performances was a brave thing to attempt, but its what gives this film its power and emotion.

My first time viewing and I really enjoyed the street/city visuals. It is definitely worth watching again.
