I know you would buy more Eldorados from the 1950s.
All of my friends have trucks except one who has a Mustang. I don't mind the trucks but the modern mustangs are pretty darned cramped. -

Trucks are fine and good for chores, but I'm not wild on using them for everyday. Too clunky and not classy enough.

I never had one with stacks. I have my Dodge Ram truck, but I only use it for work purposes, I don't just drive it to look snazzy.

The decade I selected was 45-50 but I would have loved any era from early 30s to maybe mid 60s...and I would have lived in Hollywood or New York City or maybe even Chicago...I just love how glamourous it was...the Golden Age indeed!

^^Well, '45-'50 is currently in second place, which says much about the attraction of that brief time span...
If the trip were to be a family affair, I'd want to land somewhere in the late 50s to early 60s. Probably in suburban Hometown, Ontario. I think the kids would enjoy the novelty of roaming the neighbourhood all day long without adults around, business was booming, and I have a fondness for midcentury architecture.
If I were traveling on my own, I'd probably enjoy being plunked down somewhere during the Great Depression, probably somewhere rural in the prairies, or possibly the BC interior. The political upheavals of the time are fascinating, and I think I'd enjoy giving Social Credit a go. I enjoy a challenge, I enjoy hard work, and I'm generally quite pleased when circumstances force me to create something from nothing.

This is super easy. 1918-1929. Booming economy, great music. I'd be in NYC, so that the Experiment was easy to circumvent, and I'd have access to the great performances at the Met, might have to wander down to New Orleans as well, for some of that jazz.

To me the 1930s were the point in menswear where style and fit were harmonious and flattering to the male figure.
There are always different interests when it comes to what's appealeing, but being a post toga era of tailoring that had gone through tight jackets and tight trousers in the teens and twenties, then tight jackets and wide legs in the late 20s, then in the 40s, looser jackets and narrowing legs, then loose jacket and loose legs, I always go back to staring at the fashiopns of the 1930s with the wasp waisted jackets with a bit of a built up shoulder and wider leg to the pants.

This would be the temptation for me--to go back to my hometown in the early to mid-60s to get a "refresher course" on what it was like while I was growing up there...er, here (my wife and I currently own the house I grew up in), but was still too young to form any real memories during those years. The real temptation would be to go back to 1965 and meet my father when he was the age I am now, and perhaps get a perspective on who he was as a "person" rather than the perspective I have of him as "dad". Then again, getting too close to my own family could create some form of conundrum that could alter our future (from a 1965 perspective), so I'm not sure that would be such a good idea. Still, the possibilities are intriguing.
Family visitations aside, I suppose I'd be interested in visiting my hometown during any of the eras represented in this poll. Whittier, California (about 15 miles east of downtown Los Angeles) was incorporated in 1898, so to me it would be interesting to see it in it's infancy (though I'm not sure I'd want to spend an entire year doing so).

There are many towns in TN I'd love to study back in that time period, Nashville for one, and Memphis for another.
Both have rich histories for music, and to see the mighty riverboats would have been great.
Oh sure going to see your family before they became your family, that's always an interest.
I had grandparents that lived on the beach in Florida in the 50's, and I missed that by at least 15yrs (they moved)!
Very great thread with incredible possibilities.
Matt brings up some good points too about the fashion.
It's not a revelation on this board when I say fashion is very lacking these days.

I'd like to spend the year 1957 in my hometown of Gainesville, FL. Great music, great cars, drive-ins and Gville hadn't grown too big. I'd just have to avoid a "Back to the Future" moment, and not run into my Mom, lol.
