Miss Slapstick you look like a doll! Beautiful 
Everyones hair is ah-mazing, I've just read through hundreds of pages and there is so much great inspiration.
Here's a few of my recent hairstyles, I'm pretty new to it all and I'm trying desperately hard to not be lazy and just set it every few nights.. I'm sure it will all pay off eventually!

This is what my usual set turns out like:
(excuse my face in that first one, I was recovering from wisdom teeth surgery and was a little chipmunk-ey ^_^ )
Every now and then though I get accidental awesome waves:
And my lazy day hairdo's:
Simple bumper bangs and scarf/hair rolled around an elastic headband faux gibson roll.
first ever successful front-roll and the rest of my hair was up in another faux gibson roll but around a scarf like that By Gum By Golly tute.
I really want to work on some more updo's, at my work we aren't allowed to wear "head coverings" so no scarves covering the whole head and definitely no hats.. I've got a couple of snoods on their way to me as we speak and I think I'll be able to get away with those (especially the black one), but if anyone has any awesome-but-simple updo's I'd love to see them!

I completely agree Miss Slapstick, everyone seems so reluctant to put in any amount of extra effort (or rather, they don't want to look like they've put in any effort). It's a shame really!

I got the two snoods I ordered the other day, I wore my red one today over coconut-oil soaked hair - they make a great cover up for treatments!
I've been looking at lots of photos of lovely snood-wearing ladies and I'm excited to try different fringe rolls and maybe some flowers or other embellishments!

This is the usual set I wear. (Pardon the dopey expression, I had about 5 minutes before I had to catch the bus and couldn't re-take. Still had to capture a particularly good hair day for posterity's sake, haha.)

Alice - Thank you!! I tend to use sponge rollers the most.. I still haven't really got the hang of pin curls and I just find that the sponge curls stay in longer for me.
Also they are about a million times faster to do!
The only downside I'm finding is that the rollers are a bit tough on my colour-damaged hair.. I'm getting a lot of breakage so I've been trying to minimise my use of them for a while

Actually a few days ago
The set: pincurls rolled dry around one finger from a set that had almost completely fallen due to humidity. Misted with water after setting to reactivate the setting lotion, slept on it.
Top: two rows of two standing pincurls, facing away from the part
Sides: two rows of two towards the face
Back: three rows of four towards the face (changing directions in the middle)

I actually like the netted length better on me and think about cutting to slighly below the shoulders in the back and chin length in the front (when worn straight). The only question is - to layer on not to layer? That's currently an angled blunt cut and my hair is so fine and thin that I never dared to get any layers. Any wisdom from other fine/thin haired ladies out there on the topic on 40s styles and layers? I'd love to have a fluff of curls in the back but I'm afraid of getting see through ends instead. A blunt pageboy might be be more suited for my hair type?

I'm actually a bit nervous about showing mine, but I need some advice and I thought it would be the right place to ask. I'm going to some vintage festival on Saturday and I'm a bit lost with my hair since I cut it (it used to reach below my armpits, and now it is just under shoulderlenght). My problem is, it is really, really thick, so tight curls often end up looking clowney...
Here is what I can get if I'm going for loose waves (dry set) :
(Sorry about the bathroom selfie haha, not so retro)
I guess it's okay for everyday hair, but I would need something a bit more fun for Saturday (like an updo or something?)! I would be so thankful if anyone had some advice on what I could do ! I think I'm going to wear a light blue shirt tucked into a white high-waisted polkadot skirt, if this may inspire you a bit !

Thanks so much, agirlinwinter! The grass is always greener somewhere else I guess. I have an appointment at a rockabilly/vintage salon in two days for a trim and at least a few layers in the ends ... I like my waves but the curls on the ends never fall quite right. I hope they know what they're doing.

What?, your loose waves look lovely ... probably too late, but have you tried the standard victory rolls and a flower? That's what everybody and their dog is wearing to vintage events, but that's because it just is universally flattering.

This is my first post, I've been a long time lurker. I went home to spend some time with the family this past weekend and ended up watching The Lady Eve with the beautiful Barbara Stanwyck. I loved her hair so much in the movie that I thought I was spruce up the old pincurl routine and I used perming rods to try to recreate her look. My hair is a bit shorter than hers, but you get the idea. I rolled up the back in a gibson roll later in the day because of the heat.
