Was looking for a decent hat to wear on the beach last week. Couldn't find a straw panama due to my large head, but I found this. What do you think?

Nicely done! Your handsome pal could use a straw as well (we must plant seeds, eh?!)

Did you check with Panama Bob or Panama Hats Direct? I know PHD has BIG ones in stock on their sale list. 64cm even!

Actually, at some crappy boardwalk store. It's a Panama Jack cotton size 7 and 7/8.
Just an inexpensive summer hat, but I liked it.

Looks great!

I also have a couple of cotton hats and love their practicality - sun/rain/snow/crushed up holds no fear for the cotton hat :D

I've started using cotton hats for travel, and I actually prefer them to straw for hot weather, too. Yours looks good.

Blackthorn, do you own any Tilley hats for your travel? They have some nice organic cotton mid size brim models.

Psugrad98, a couple of cool dudes in their shades. Nice photo. Isn't nice to find something you like that is inexpensive!

That's great psugrad98.
Incidently, a Panama Jack hat similiar to that is what started me wearing broadbrimmed hats back when I was a young man, my "gateway drug" as it were. :D

At the shop I call them the Volvo of hats. They're not sexy but they're safe.

Yeah, I like that. Last year in Colombia I used mine to kill wasps, knocking them out of the air and then squashing them flat with the second swing of the Tilley. I wouldn't do that with any of my other hats. And they're reliable sun shade in hot weather if you don't care to look fashionable.
