Any Tips on safari outfit?

I would personally suggest Willis & Geiger safari clothing although its hard to find. Shot a nice Cape Buffalo and a couple of smaller things in Tanzania a couple of yeas ago and it worked well.

Unless, of course, you shot the leopard yourself. Capstick's admonition applies to first timers. Just ask Boddington! He still blushes over how he tried to come across as an "old Africa hand" after his first safari. Hell, I've been on five and still consider myself a relative greenie. Maybe that's why I've been so content with zebra . . . :eeek:

That may be the story I remember. I don't have the books here in Oklahoma to check it out though. Capstick's books are great, but he wasn't sober much from what I understand.

Yup. If you manage to stay alive to 65 you're pretty much a lock to 85 but that first step is a doozy. In fact, the biggest die-off among men is from 48-54 the way I understand it. Enjoy your booze but do it moderately. I guess that means be only moderately sober . . .

I heard he was pretty loaded in most of his video series. Never watched them myself, though.

Burt Avedon and many companies have tried, but Lands End wouldn't sell it. Something about them not wanting to be embarassed if it thrives. Read my thread on this several threads below.

On a side note- I was watching The Lost World: Jurassic Park on tv the other day and spotted at least 4 different Willis & Geiger items worn by the characters. I found it notable that their products were placed in a major blockbuster movie. Shows how authentic and respected the brand was.

I watched that video series you mention and he did appear to have a problem. A bit sad to watch but some good hunting information and presented with Capstick humor and passion.

That's why I say if some enterprising financial type gathered together enough sub-contractors making W&G quality merchandise for the same purpose and gave it a new name that had something like the same ring, it would make a fortune. Use a retro illustration of, say, a couple of guys in a canoe in the Canadian wilderness with a Grumman Goose flying over head and maybe a streamlined steam engine puffing along on tracks next to the river and call it Venture & Dare'. If the quality was up to standard someone would rake in the bucks.
