Hi, I believe the documentary you are referring to is called, "The Last Mission: The Secret History of WWII's Final Battle." It is a fascinating, nail-bitting account of the last B-29 mission to bomb Japan that had, literally all during the flight to Japan, the crew waiting for a signal to not drop its bombs if Japan surrendered (after the two A-bombs had already been dropped) juxtaposed with the factious battles going on in Japan and with the Emperor over the surrender decision. I have no independent information on its historical accuracy, but it is a fantastic, gripping tale (right down to the out-of-gas, engine-backfiring, runway-on-the-edge-of-a-cliff landing of the B-29s back on Hawaii). Saw The World's End today and really enjoyed it, but I thought the "epilogue" at the end (roughly the last 4-5 minutes of the movie) felt tacked on even though it was appropriate for the story. Shaun of the Dead is still my favorite Pegg/Frost/Wright collaboration, but this one runs a close second.

Yes, that is it! But they did not land on Hawaii, that was way to far for even the B-29. They barely made it back to Guam, with some of the engines running out of fuel while taxing back to the revetment !

'Brief Ecstasy' a 1930s film about a doomed love affair between a young man and a married woman. The title immediately makes one think of Brief Encounter and I think 'Encounter' was heavily influenced by 'Ecstasy'.

Imagine 'Brief Encounter' with lust instead of underplayed longing.

"Elysium" - C-Minus - What a load of cobblers. Two dimensional is two great a compliment to give this drivel. "Rich Bad", "Poor Good", Frankenstein could've written a more original screen play. With the rich having litterally abandoned the halt and the lame to a desicated Mother Earth, THIS was the best they could come up with? Jody Foster musta really needed a paycheck after "The Beaver" because this shrill, one note, Cruela DeVille imitation was/is beneath her. Save your money, save your time.

Sunshine, the film about three generations of a Hungarian jewish family in the early 20th century. I'm somewhat at a loss to rate the film many elements were there to make it a great film: 1900-1950s fashion, Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes, sabre fencing, William Hurt, Mark Strong, and I am a sucker for stories dealing with the Austro-Hungarian Empire with cafes etc. But it felt to rushed to be believable trying to squeeze in three generations in three hours. So it had an odd 'montage' feeling for a drama. As you see each generation of Fiennes character mount the social ladder (through law, fencing and then police/party) I kept hearing the Team America song "You gotta have a montage!" in the back of my mind... I mean for me to not like a film set in the remains of the Austro-Hungarian Empire with belted back tweed jackets, sabre fencing and Rachel Weisz in 1930s clothing something has to be wrong with the screenplay...
