This ebay seller has had descriptions chock full of lies almost every single auction. But this one really takes the cake.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Antiqu...551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4859c66cef

He's got a woman's hat from about 1910 and is selling it as a "rare antique riding hat" for men from the "1860s." And, like nearly everyone on ebay, he thinks its beaver when it's silk.

And he's trying to rip someone off to the tune of $2,200! I sure hope no one is stupid enough to ever pay that.

This guy is one of the worst flat out liars on ebay.

Would love to see your hats worn, CaramelSmoothie... do you post them to another thread on the Lounge?

Alan,

I am in the process of starting a website where I will be showcasing all my hats worn on my own head. I will be taking pictures in various cities in front of historical landmarks and buildings. Right now, I am in the design and trademarking stage so I may not start taking pictures until early next year, maybe a little sooner. I promise it will be worth the wait! Once I have about 50-80 hats photographed, I will debut the site and add pictures as I take them. I have the domain name and the slogan registered..just waiting for the USPTO to come through to make it officially mine. Working with a logo and site designer now to make this dream of mine a reality! The site will have a film noir vibe/theme to it but it will definitely be all about the hats!

What a fun and exciting project, CS! I foresee a coffee-table book, for sure, and plenty of media interest.

LOL, thanks Randooch. I am just doing it for my personal love of hats. Just as long as the viewing public can enjoy my hats, that is good enough for me! Anything more would be gravy.

You've certainly broadened the scope of interest here, Caramel. I always look forward to your photos and comments. Can't wait for your "go-live" launch!

Do you have any Merrimack Hats?

Yes. In women's hats the Merrimac brand is usually stamped onto the hat rather than attached to an actual label. I've never seen this brand in 20s and 30s hats, only 40s and onward.

Item of interest, for sure. My grandmother was a native beader. Those seed beads are old school, for sure, and the hat is a Christys. Wish I had the cash. Maybe one of you gents will save it.
