That's pretty much all you'll see off the peg. French cuffs denote 'dressy' and pockets do not.

Mr B. Thanks for the link. The tab collar shirts look nice as well. And they do the spearpoint with holes for a collar pin. They look rather good.

Grrrrr, washed both Adam spearpoint shirts at 30 degrees, along with a load of other whites and they came out very, very wrinkled – not ironed the cream one yet, which doesn't seem to have suffered as much, but the white one's now got 'permanent' wrinkles, that even a steam iron won't get rid of! :eeek:

I'm gonna try hand-washing both of 'em with some fabric conditioner, to try and 'de-stress' the fabric, but upon first glance I'd say that they skimped on the quality of the poplin which, for shirts costing £50 each, I take as a personal offence!

I emailed 'em, and received this response, so fair play: "It is possible that the white one is faulty the ivory one is a different fabric supplier, please send the white one back to us and we will deal with it."

I had Natty make me two spearpoint collared shirts based on this photo of a 1930s French shirt on ebay:

And asked them to raise the collar stand a bit, and give the collars a generous length.
They are 4 inches long.

Thick denim blue cotton with white and burgundy stripes

And lightweight white oxford

I think they did a good job of copying the collar.
Also they stuck to my request of no interlining.

I am new to large collars though, what do you think? Some days I feel like they are too peacocky.
An acquired taste perhaps?

They cost around £30 including postage, no extra charge for the custom features. So in that regard, very pleased.
There was a quality control issue with the white shirt, one of the collar stay slots was sewn at too steep an angle and is not functional.
I wasn't really planning on using collar stays so I won't make a fuss.

I was wearing the striped one pictured above!

They look both good. The best natty shirts so far. I've wondered about other members who bought like 10 shirts with boring collars. Good to know they can do something like this too.
If they feel peacocky you could try the same curve and pointyness but less length for the next collar.

When you wear them with a tie you could also "tame" them with a collar bar.

Yes, I'd consider a bar or pin more appropriate for this collar style than stays.

You can if your eyesight is 20/20. My attempt at collar bars always look like I've been at the whisky bottle. But then I'm treated to a gentle lecture, a fuss made around my collar, a perfect horizontal collar bar, a kiss and, if I'm lucky, a compliment on my appearance. (Hope my wife's not reading this!)
A question. Years ago, in the corporate world, when I was a "suit," one of my favourite types of shirt was the pinstripe with contrasting white collar and cuffs. Such a shirt would go well with a new suit I'm having made, was this colour contrast popular, or even around, in the 30's & 40's? It's easy to create such a style buy matching a pinstripe half-shirt, if that's what they are called. The sort that only has a few buttons, you have to put it on over your head. I can then contrast it with a detachable spearpoint collar. I have experimented with it and I'm pleased with the result. Not going to have the fashion police knocking on my door, am I?

They are called tunic-, detachable collar-, or pop-over shirt. Patterned shirt with white collar is period correct. I imagine detachable collar shirts are the inspiration for contrast collar shirts and not the other way round anyway. When the patterned collar wore out a white collar would be the best replacement.
