The suit was made to measure by the International Tailoring Company for a Mr. A. Parker Kennedy, and is dated November 28, 1941. I got it off of eBay last May.

That could be said for any Era or decade......the 20's were great, except for that dang Prohibition and gang slaughter and free love and dope; The 30's were great except that dang Depression and everyone was dirt poor; the 40's were great except that dang WWII and rationing shortages and curfews and night raids; the 50's were great except those dang teenagers and rock and roll music; the 60's were great except that dang Viet Nam war and protests and killing of civilians and free love and dope; etc.

Thank God for my N3-B coat! It has been hovering around zero degrees Farenheit, thats around -18 Celsius. Interesting when your main body is sweating and your fingers are getting frost bite. Mot much snow, but had to scoop every day since Wednesday, luckily, its light powder. We usually don't see this until February, and then, you can take solace in the fact that it's only a couple of weeks until Spring! If this keeps up, I will almost be ready to move into one of those Hippie Communes by James.

You miss my point: I wasn't referring to society as a whole, merely fashion and specifically menswear. From the fifties onward the fashion divide between young and old (which had always existed) began to grow wider. Until we reach the bizarre stage now when, the roles are utterly reversed, and men in their thirties and forties dress like children, rather than youngsters wanting to look older.

Stearman you have my sympathies. One of the beat things I can say about where I live is that I have NEVER had to shovel snow.

Not actually wearing this today, per se, but I couldn't resist showing off this awesome find

Tuxedo dated Nov, 1960, near mint condition, and I paid...wait for it....50 cents!

Shown here is my little ad hoc take on black tie - the tie is a puff tie and the vest is a Victorian style with a shawl lapel, both from Gentleman's Emporium. I don't actually own a bowtie! lol Oh, and the shirt is not technically a tuxedo shirt - it's a shirt I had made to measure with french cuffs and a wing collar by Maxwell's Clothiers. I was going for a Victorian style with that.

The crazy thing is, I went there with 50 cents in my pocket specifically looking for a suit, because I know that thrift store sometimes has sales where a particular colour tag is 50 cents. Lo and behold, I walk in and the first thing i see is a 1960 vintage tux with the sale tag on it! It fit me like a glove and there isn't a hole or loose thread anywhere on it, nor is it faded at all. I wasn't too sure about the skinny lapels (not a fan of that look) but I couldn't say no!

The tie is one made by Nick D from a batch of vintage silk. And very nice it is too.

Wore this for my wifey's B-day lunch and a trip out to the wine country the other week. 60's era Cable Car Clothiers (who still exist in San Francisco) 3/2 Roll light brown tweed suit. Originally a 3-Piece, but the vest has snag on it I'm getting repaired, so I threw on a 2-tone cardigan vest instead, I think it worked well. Cognac leather wingtips, gray dress shirt, burgundy pocket square and brown plaid wool tie pull it all together. My wife said, "You dress like you're 50 years old!" to which I replied, "Oh, I was actually aiming for 90"...
