Although I'm a historian I tend to mainly post on the clothing threads here on the FL. However, since I'm having a clear out at home I can offer for sale copies of some of my books at a cut price.

I have limited stocks that I can offer for £5 each (plus postage) - or £4 each (plus postage) if buying more than one book. I have included a link to Amazon so that you can read reviews etc:

Here they are:

The first is 'Dunkirk - The Men They Left Behind'. It's the alternative story of the evacuation of the British Army from France in 1940, looking at the men who were left in France - the wounded, the prisoners of war and the evaders. It is mostly written from my interviews with veterans.

“Sean Longden is a rising name in military history, and is able to uncover the missing stories of the Second World War.” The Guardian.

The second is 'Hitler's British Slaves'. It's the true story of British and Commonwealth prisoners of war in German POW camps, telling the story of their experiences as forced labourers in the factories, mines and farms of the Third Reich:

'Fluent, broadly researched and full of the prisoners' own thoughts, this book does its subject proud.' Daily Telegraph

Next is 'To the Victor the Spoils'. This is the story of the British Army between D-Day and VE Day. It coesn't tell the story of the battles, but reveals the forgotten side of the story: changing attitudes to religion; sex; alcohol; desertion; crime; humour; post-war emotions; battle fatigue - there's even a chapter on how soldiers adapted their uniforms.

“outstanding …. Longden’s chapter on sex is an eye-opening sortie into Eros enthroned.” The Independent.
“If you like your history served "warts and all", the must-read is To the Victor the Spoils by Sean Longden. This is the sex'n'drugs'n'rock'n'roll of soldiering … Longden's skill is to source his ribald tales well without denigrating the heroic efforts of the vast majority.” The Times.

Finally, 'T Force - The Forgotten Heroes of 1945'. This is the story of the British Army unit sent into Germany in 1945 to extract Nazi scientists, search for secret research facilities and ensure they could be exploited by the British. They made the final advance of the British Army in North West Europe when they broke the ceasefire to advance on and capture Kiel (To find Dr Helmut Walter - who later turns up as a character in the James Bond book 'Moonraker'). The best bit is that they were not elite troops, but - in a typically British way - they were 18 year olds straight out of training, wounded men who had been released from hospitals, gunners whose regiments had been broken up and even men released from prison to act as 'safe-crackers'.

“This is a great book and has all the elements of a riveting page-turner – at times you have to stop and remind yourself that you’re reading a piece of factual history and not an 007 thriller.” The Soldier Magazine
http://www.amazon.co.uk/T-Force-Forgotten-Heroes-1945-Secrets/dp/1849012970/ref=pd_sim_b_1

If you are interested in getting a copy of any (or all) of these, please send me a PM.

Can I get one of each autographed by the excellent author? :D I have a friend who would love to read them.

there should hopefully be two TV documentaries based on them coming out later in the year
Very good. I certainly enjoyed reading "To the victor the spoils" - particularly the parts dealing with soldier's lives beyond the battlefield.
