Only in the Outerwear section of the |Fedora Lounge would a thread about a jacket manufacturer result in a fairly detailed discussion re. the existance of the Celtic Nations as nations or otherwise ....... :D

The Bretans will also be pissed ...... perhaps even Galicians ( depending on your perspective)

Either way it makes me smile :D :D ..... but I'm not sure of it's relevance to Jacket Manufacturers who's nationallity is often not an issue :D

I totally agree with Capes. Nationalism is toxic. Common interest is far more important - witness our fascinatingly bizarre community here on FL...

By the way, I'm Welsh, Scottish, Cornish, Devonian and a bit of Sassenach on one side, Macedonian Greek on t'other. I have recent family history that illustrates how dangerous this whole business of identity can get.

So what about that Warhawk?

It's REALLY nice .... :D

Very close to CXL in terms of finish but a little duller and with a little more grain ( just as described by those who know this stuff ) a bit more supple than CXL and a little lighter in weight ( but it's marginal) it's obviously got some oil content as when you scratch it up with your nails a quick rub and as if by magic the scratches fade away ... really nice, the brown is a lovely almost mottled finish and a nice conker shade , the black great and a bit more matt than CXL but the star of the show for me is the Burgundy .... it's amazing, I think I've found a solution for my next jacket.

A less boxy fit Roadster no zip chest pocket ........ looks like there will be one or two on ebay soon :)

The Burgundy CXL is absolutely stunning also. I have been carrying around a swatch in my pocket as I find it almost literally hypnotic. I really am aiming for tan for my next punt but there is something about the burgundy.....

I just sold 2 to fund a new arkansas in that new hide. i'm waiting on the samples....

Has anybody had a highwayman or AL Roadster with this type of bi-swing back ? Is it more comfortable given it's quite small in area ?






No guessing, or monkeying around please just facts.....

I have a HWM with a bi swing and I like it. I would probably not get it on another one but that is because my next one will be for wearing over a t shirt rather than over a chunky sweater and I would love to have one with a back yoke too for variety's sake.

What I find is that the range of movement I have is really good. I can touch my elbows together in front of my chest and throw a cricket ball or a punch with no sense of restriction. At the same time my jacket fits no looser than some of the more frequently shown HWM's on here, such as HD's. It must be something to do with the famously forgiving cut of the jacket but the bi swing doesn't hurt. When I touch my elbows together it opens right out in the back.

I had a Schott 689HH with that same bi-swing back and it works very well; gives extra freedom of movement and no chance of an errant "bat-wing" effect.

It's very different in concept to something like a m-442a with elastic straps sewn into both the lining and leather pleats. Being less obtrusive there doesn't seem any reason not to tick the option box.
