You have that right. I can shoot my12 or 20 ga for much less. 28 ga shells are priced with .410 and 16 ga.

One of the great shotguns of all time, sadly very rare in this country.
As is the case with the 16, the 28 has become very popular over the past decade and as a result ammunition is much more readily available and prices for high quality loads is not that much more than comparable high quality ammo. That being said, there is a premium. To me the pleasure of carrying and shooting a 28 is worth the extra $2-$3/box. Another thing about a 28; it's a stone cold killer. When I hit a bird with 7/8-oz of #7 it's a done deal. No cripples. And I can consistently break 22-23 on the skeet field with a 28 ga Parker with double triggers.

I will have to agree with that. I was lucky to find mine, especially in 28ga. I wish I could afford a couple in large gauges or maybe a rifle. A new Darne is a very expensive gun.
I do have one other slider, a 16 ga Charlin. The smoothness of the action makes the Darne feel crude by comparison, but the Charlin is not nearly as strong as the Darne because of the difference in the lock up.

Just picked up this .380 Savage 1907. It goes well with my Colt 1903, and is quickly becoming my favorite "Gangster Era" pocket gun.
Very nice. I loved how Jude Law's character in Road to Perdition had one. Not sure if his was the 32 or 380 though. All the same great find.

Next project: was gifted this rifle this week. Got to do some gunsmithery to it this next week and try to get the old beast operational. Sorry for the poor photo quality. Mfg Feb. 1941 calibre 300 Savage.

I let the fire arms permit expire and turned it in; will be aunctioned by the Guardia Civil shortly.
Here is a .25 hand made one off dump valve pumper I just revised. I have it with a Bausch&Lomb scope from the days those were a top notch manufacture on mounts that hug it to the moderator.

It is not bad. Metal is good. Someone has tried to strip and refinish wood. And the receiver was D&T for an old side mount scope. Big issue is action is completely gunked up with all manner of stuff. I'll haul it to work this morning and start the de-gunk procedure! LOL! Hopefully I'll be shooting it next weekend!

Koz!!!! That is a dang nice 1903!!!
Deacon! Got the thing apart. Rusted bolt, to receiver/bbl. what a mess!!! Missing a mag follower and mag spring. No biggie. And the safety lever is broken. Will try to tig it later. My mig weld didn't hold. BUT I did test fire it and it shoots!!!! And the bore is mint!!!
