Thanks for the comments on my Dualist today guys - much appreciated.

Great hats all around, I'd say. Alan, it was particularly cool to see one of the original Dualist models joining one of the newest.

My spring optimism was spoilt by the rain (thanks a bunch you Ohio Loungers!), but the day was saved with the arrival at my office of this nice Royal DeLuxe Stetson

Despite plenty of packaging, the USPS had tried hard to convert the box to a pizza box, but the hat popped right back into shape.

Thanks, Josh - this is a really interesting hat, I've not seen another like it, that's for sure!

Great looking hat! I feel you on the packaging. The Mallory hat I posted above came to me with the brim messed up I had to steam it.

Thanks, gm12. Yeah, felt hats are pretty tough and usually can be gotten right back into shape. Josh had packaged the hat fine, just those USPS guys seem to be on a mission of destruction sometimes.

My scariest one was a Brent Black Panama that arrived in a box that was really about 1 inch thick when I got it. Took a while to get it back (Will never be quite what Mr. Black intended) but was worth it and is a go to summer hat for me, the last few years.

I think my Mallory is made from rabbit fur felt. It's pretty flimsy and stuff. My Dobbs seems more stiff than that one and its made from wool felt.

Yes, it probably is rabbit felt. Same with my "new" Stetson and most vintage hats in that era. The only all beaver vintage hats you'll see are the more expensive ones (at that time) such as the Stetson 7X Clear Beaver and Stetson 100, etc.

Vintage Whippets and Stratoliners that people pay big $$ for are rabbit felt, as are some of the highest quality felt hats ever made (see some of the old European velours and vintage Borsalinos, for example).

I'm gonna look for 50s Knox twenty for my next hat. Maybe in grey.

G, you sure wear that one well!

Daniele, beautiful hat my friend!

Joao, very very nice looking nutria!

Alan, that one is pure beauty!

T, may be a tad large but it still looks Grand!

Richard, great looking hat! Exquisite!

Guitar, very sharp Mallory!

----------

1920s/1930s Stetson 3x Beaver. I absolutely love this one. I can't decide on the front pinch or a telescope crease, but for today, the pinch it is.

Really nice. Isn't it a little too big in size? Looks like it is falling down your head and covering your ears.
