Hi.
Who makes the best repro RAF Battledress jackets?
(Repro because of the sizes then and now - and my humble size)
Fall is comming up, and it sure would be nice to stroll around in a woolen RAF jacket - untill we get into the IRVIN kind of weather.
Thanks:)

What Price Glory in Salinas California probably makes the best repro of the early pattern "Suits, Aircrew." Unfortunately he's very thin on sizes at the moment. He's announced that he'll be making another run, but it probably won't be delivered until December at the earliest.

Check it out, you might get lucky with the current size selection.

Cheers!

Thanks Baggers

Thanks Baggers - I will sure check it out.
Don't get me wrong though, I would be better off with a supplier in Europe. Taxes, postage and the time getting here from US to Denmark is killing the joy!
But if it is the only way out...[huh]

I have been on the lookout for battledress too. Have been keeping an eye out for originals, but it's never quite right! Sizing-wise, I'm relatively slender but at 6'0'', I need a longer cut, ideally the size 16 blouse. And original trousers are never long enough - I've a 34'' inseam!

The What Price Glory BD comes highly recommended - I'm checking for the announcement of new stock on the website regularly!

Jacket on the way!

Just ordered my new jackett. Now I only need a nice RAF wing (WWII type) and a couple of ribbons to top of the jacket.
Anybody know where to get that?
(Besides by flying and fighting-offcourse.:) )

If you ordered your BD jacket from WPG, he should have had the wings you need. If not, repro KC wings abound. Try Soldier of Fortune or Sentimental Journey (sorry, don't have the links handy but they're both in the UK).

Ribbons are another thing. Most reenactors discourage the wearing of all decorations, save a campaign ribbon or unit decoration essential to the uniform of the unit they are portraying, unless one actually earned the gong (it's a respect thing). But if you won't be wearing it out and about too much, it shouldn't be a problem. Where to find? Not sure. eBay?

Cheers!

Gong

Baggers - you are ever so right. Allthough I am not into reenacting, there is no way I am going 'round with medals I have not deserved.
Thanks for your help.

Try an outfit called Air Diggers as well, Chris Kanca (sp?) is a great guy to deal with.
