There are two of them for sale right now at Torneau Watches in the Pentagon City Mall here in Washington. Go for it! I know they're expensive but they'll never lose they're value, they'll always be worth more than you paid for them.

This is another of my Rolex collection, a Tudor chronograph, otherwise known as a Tudor Daytona. I do have a Rolex Daytona I bought recently which is far, far more costly than this Tudor but I actually like the Tudor more because it has the day date. They look exactly the same but the Rolex doesn't have the date. Wish Tudor was still making wonderful watches like this.

The root of it is, of course - at least, over here in Europe - the complete lack of a chain of accountability. The guys who trash your bags work for the airport, but it's the airline which is obliged to compensate you when your stuff gets trashed. I firmly believe that if the company paying out compensation was the same company employing they who caused the damage, we'd soon see some changes...

That's really nice. I find most modern watches are both too clunky and too over-featured for my tastes. I like simplicity. Hell, I'm not even a fan of a date window, but I typically have to compromise on that one. Yours is lovely. Somewhere I have a fake Rolex (a right of passage thing from a first trip to Beijing some years ago), but I don't expect ever to own a real one, given the price involved. I do like the early, simply-styled ones.

My Husband really kicks himself for not purchasing a few more Rolex watches from the early 1970's and he was still in the U.S. Navy. One ship store had some all stainless steel Rolex watches that could be ordered "duty free" for less than $1,200.00 and a few other offerings from Rolex at a nice discount.

My first Rolex was a stainless and gold Datejust with a black dial. I bought it new in 1980 for around $1,800.00 after graduation and landing my first "real" job. It was stolen about 7 years later. It was a beautiful watch.

I now have a stainless Datejust with a black dial bought after my first was stolen. It has been a good watch but rather plain looking compared to my two tone. Here is a quick photo taken with my iPad.

I've always been a big fan of the older No Date Submariners. I wish I would have bought one of those back then. The prices now seem to have really skyrocketed on the older No Date Subs. The new ceramic bezel No Date Subs don't look the same to me. The lugs look wider or something else is different. I'm not really sure and have never studied any pictures to compare the two.
