out of interest, of the people here that live in places like Arizona where the jewellery comes from, do you find that the ebay prices are reasonable on the whole (i know they vary) or do you laugh at what people are paying for native american jewellery? also some of the online shops seem to be a massive ripoff, sometimes i see the same item for two to three times the price in one store compared to another.

This eBay seller has a couple of squash blossom necklaces that I found particularly attractive. I find many to be too bulky/heavy for my taste. I wish I could afford either of them...

There is a very large pool of Native jewelry on eBay - modern, tourist era, important collectable pieces. Some will be bargains and some can go high if two or more bidders are anxious to own it. As with most things, experience and a good eye are necessary to find good value.

The historic and collectable pieces that come up for sale on eBay can run large numbers, but many of the bidders are collectors and resellers - the same pieces will then come up for sale on their online stores at higher prices by a factor of 2 or 3. There are some very knowledgable sellers on eBay. Their auctions are watched carefully and receive active bidding.

JG, I can't make out the stamps in your photos. The Barton Wright book is one of the recognized sources for identifying maker hallmarks. There are a couple of web based resources too.

Thanks Alan, I kind of happened on these. I don't know much, but I knew I liked them. I guess now I am a collector, and I had better get the book, and a jeweler's glass.

Yes turquoise jewlery is very common out here and I have been surprised by the prices of many of the pieces I have seen on ebay and other sites. I have also noticed that the local prices have risen considerably over the years. I think that may be because of the "e-bay effect" as well as the collector interest that has grown for pieces made by the various famous craftsmen.

Of course this is only supposition on my part, I am niether a jewler nor a collector, so my conclusions may be totally off base.
