Yes, yes, yes. My vote for best ghost movie of the Golden Era. It was treated very seriously and had a wonderful story around it, outstanding acting and incredible scenery. It is a gem.

I have not seen all of those - although I think I found "Darling" a bit of a mess (but it's been a long time) and I couldn't get into "Petulia" but maybe that is me. That said, I am a huge Julie Christie fan and agree with your comments about her - both her beauty and her talent - which is why I am disappointed that she seems to have only had a few good movies. I will keep an eye out for the others you mention.

That is the one with Ray Milland, isn't it? I saw the film when in my teens and thought it was a great ghost story film!

Yes.....that's the one. It was creepy enough that my wife wouldn't go upstairs to bed afterwards by herself, and waited until I had finished my beer and was ready too.

I read that when the movie was released in the U.K. that the special effects scenes of the ghosts were deleted.

The Uninvited is a great film, that doesn't need gore to shock the audience.
Those are the films I enjoy most.
However, a bit of gore isn't bad...

Last night it was Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil. Now it's not for the faint of heart because of the accidental death scenes. In fact, it's more of a dark comedy than anything. Funny though, really funny.
Because it's getting close to Halloween, I've started my rotation of favorites.

Tonight? Blacula. A great film from 1972 with William Marshall as the lead.
With a full complement of 70's clothing, cars, and music. Also with a guest appearance by Elisha Cook Jr. :eusa_clap
Tomorrow night Scream Blacula Scream. Well the plot isn't as good, but it's got Pam Grier. A fair trade off.

Now that was a great film. Hilarious!! Can't recommend it enough.

Blacula is a mighty good flick too. It certainly had the potential to be terrible, but I really enjoyed it. Maybe one of the earliest flicks to portray the vampire in a sympathetic light.

Just saw Fury, with Brad Pitt. A brutal look at WWII, but if an Oscar nomination doesn't come out of it I'll be shocked. Brad Pitt was incredible, and the entire cast was surperb.

Like McConahay (sp.) Depp and few others... he's managed to move past his "pretty boy" looks and make quite a name for himself as an actor. He's due for a statue in my opinion... overdue really.

You will enjoy them, if you like a well written crime mystery, peppered with dry humor from Powell.
RJB is correct, the exchange between them is almost true to life for a real couple IMHO.
Also, several other movies they were in together (non-thin man movies) are similar as well, and quite enjoyable.

Definitely worth it. The Thin Man is the kind of movie for which I must stop, drop, and watch whenever I stumble across it. I have seen it so many time and know that I will watch it many times more.

BD, Love Crazy and I Love You Again also star Powell and Loy.
Love Crazy is a riot, and allowed Powell to be the sophisticated cutup he's famous for.

McConaughey was outstanding in both.

I have seen both and enjoyed both. He was mesmerizing in True Detective. It was without a doubt, my favorite series/show this past year.
