Righto... you will find a number of cousins to your new Select derby in earlier posts on this thread with numbers in the 5XXX and 6XXX neighborhood. I believe these numbers are from the 1930s, but it is a work in progress. Here is a comfort conforming - perhaps a little earlier than yours - I have to look up the LOTXXXX number on this one.

Here's another piece to the puzzle....
I uploaded pictures of my 1916 Pacemaker a couple years ago. Unfortunately the lot number was completely unreadable, but I never tried manipulating it on photobucket to try and see if I could make out the numbers.......

The numbers seem to read 3853
Like "The Event," The "Pacemaker" was only made for one season as well.......Spring of 1916. Literally right after "The Event." There is only 165 LOTS between the two hats. It could be 8 months to about 3 months between these two hats depending on exactly when they were made, but we have narrowed the lot numbers down to within a year.

Stetson Real Nutria Fur derby, either 3266, or 8266. If 8266, it is pre-1920s and from a prior sequence of numbers. At least I think so.

Thanks for adding this great Stetson derby here. Photos of my tall derby were posted here. I ran your LOTXXXX stamp photo to some Photoshop forensics. It looks like it could be 8X67, an early sequence from the first or second decade of the 20th century. Fantastic hat!

I have also been intrigued that at one time Stetson even numbered its bow styles! I don't imagine we will ever get a handle on that because it seems only the early 1900s hats have a bow note and many seem to be bowlers.

I think 5319 is right... what a great hat! Somewhere around 1930 or a little earlier is my guess. Congratulations Aaron.

I think they are kindred spirits in the timeline. The felt weight stamping is one of several similarities.

Feather Weight Nutria peaks my interest. How "light" is this hat by comparison to other "feather weight" hats in your collection, Alan? The felt appears to be substantial without being floppy or flimsy.

It's very light, Josh... hat is 2.8 ounces. My steaming brought back some body to the hat which may make it look more substantial. When I first took it out of the box, you could fold it with a cross look.
