Current "Vintage-i-fied" Beauty Routine

I am always curious (nosy) as to what others' routines are, so here is mine!

Here it goes:

Wash face gently with Noxema cream plus moisturizers (lotion formula)
Use pimple cream (benzoyl peroxide- as a spot treatment)
Put on Neutrogena moisturizer for sensitive skin

Daub on Revlon concealor where needed
Dust over face with Coty Airspun powder in Translucent (I l-o-v-e this stuff)
Rouge up cheeks with Revlon "Blushed" blush
Apply either Revlon's "Cherries in the Snow" or "Volcanic Red" lipstick

Spritz on Body Shop's Oceanus fragrance

That is pretty much it! I am trying to keep it simple.

Thanks for the tip! It's been feeling less greasy the more I use it, so think initially it was just my skin re-adjusting to a year of being stripped with acne fighting products, but still a teenie bit too greasy for me still so will try blotting tonight!

*blush* I confess, I use Clearsil facewash and an organic shea butter moisteriser and that's it! I'm going to remember this thread of 'instructios' for when I eventually get around to make up! :D

Look in mirror, rub eyes, take deep breath.

Cleanse with Pond's Cold Cream, wipe off with baby wipe.

Moisturize with St. Ives Collagen-Elastin moisturizer

Dust with Coty Translucent powder

Fill in eyebrows with brown pencil

Revlon Certainly Red lipstick

Another deep breath, and out the door.

(If I'm going to be working at the theatre, I'll add a quick layer of Pan-Cake foundation in True Beige, and a little brown-black mascara. I avoid shadow or liner unless I'm really glamming it up, which happens maybe twice a year...)

Good lord, it's a good thing I don't work.

Make coffee. Smoke. Bathe. Wash hair (every other day). Dry. Dust with cornstarch and Chanel no. 5 talcum powder everywhere. Apply perfume to pulse points. Put shoes on (if not slip ons), hose, and slip. Struggle into corset, whine, complain and generally grump until coffee's done. Get cup. Pin hair up into a french twist, or rag curlers.

Wash face with proactive and a buff puff. Tone. Repair lotion.

Put Elizabeth Arden moisturizer cream on. Let sit 5 minutes while I smoke and try to stumble around. Add a second layer, adding Arden's good morning eye treatment. Repeat stagger.

Come back and put on Arden good morning skin serum. Stagger and drink that coffee. Slather on Blistex. Let everything soak in. If needed add a layer of Oil of olay mositurizer.

Add a thin layer Max Factor pan-stick makeup, blend with sponge. Add concealer under the eyes, another thin layer, blend until within an inch of its life. Go feed the cat.

Do a line of Pink blush by Arden, then blend with sponge. Dust with a really not there layer of powder to set. Add Love my Lips liner in some off the wall color that's no longer on there, kick cat from under my feet. Argue with husband that 3 inches is fine on the corset. Apply first layer of eyeshadow, covering entire lid. Add contrasting color to crease. Draw eyebrows on. Add lipstick, blot, powder. Draw on eyeliner, catch tears from poking self in eye. First layer of mascara, or glue fake ones on depending on if I have them that day or not. Apply second layer, or apply to bottom lashes. Add second layer of lipstick. Go hunt down a shirt. Kick cat out from under my feet.

Find shirt and forage for coffee. If hair is pinned up, ignore. I have to leave about this time, so if set, find a scarf and tie round head. Drive spouse to work. Come home, drink the rest of the coffee. Do hair about 2.

Night time isn't so bad.

My routine depends on wether I'm planning on staying home all day or not.
Going out:
brush teeth
wash face (pro active solution)
toner
moisturizer (jergens)
concealer (mellow yellow)
foundation
powder
blush
bronzer (on forhead, nose and along jawline)
eyeshadow
eyeliner
mascara
brow pencil
lip liner
lipstick

If I stay home, I just skip all the make up part :)

This routine is for an average workday or going out. If I'm staying home or just going to the grocery store or something, I skip the makeup altogether.

*Wash face with Olay Regenerist cleanser and daily thermal scrub
*Witch hazel toner
*Vitamin C serum to face
*Olay Age Defying moisturizer with SPF
*Olay Regenerist Eye serum
*Coty translucent extra coverage powder buffed over face with kabuki brush
(Sometimes I precede that step with tinted moisturizer)
*Revlon blush in smoky rose
*Eyebrows - pencil in with Maybelline auburn, light wax to define
*If I'm going out for the evening, or really glamming it up, I'll do eyeliner on the upper lid only - Revlon's sepia tone
*Eyeshadow - cream over entire lid, darker brown on lid and in crease (brands vary - usually either Bare Escentuals, Physicians Formula, or L'Oreal)
*Mascara (usually Bourjois)
*Lipliner - currently L'Oreal vintage nude
*Lipstick (brands & colors vary too much to list)

At night I remove my makeup with either the Olay cleanser and follow with witch hazel, or if I'm lazy I just use the Olay regenerist cloths, then follow with Olay night cream and eye serum.

It is really intriguing to me the way to all keep track of all the brands and names of the items you use, I always buy the same item's but I am usually just lookijng for the color of the labeling until I figure out what I bought last time!

  • Brush/floss my teeth
  • Avon moisturizer non wrinkle stuff
OR Nutragena moisturizer w/sunscreen depending on my mood & skin
  • Figure out what I am wearing so I can decide if I am going with warm/cool
  • makeup
  • Foundation
  • Eyebrow pencil
  • Eye shadow base, color accents anywhere from 1-4
  • Eye liner
  • Mascara - upper only
  • Lipstick
  • Blush
  • Throw clothes on
  • Add jewelry and I am off

My beauty routine isn't "vintage-i-fied," but here it is:

  • Rinse face with cool water.
  • Moisturize with Dove Essentials Sensitive Skin Day Cream.
  • Use Revlon Colorstay coverup for undereyes and any spots.
  • Apply eyeshadow, generally in a neutral shade all over and a brownish color in the crease.
  • Put on a little blush--MAC in Strada.
  • Dust on Chanel pressed powder in translucent.
  • One coat of Maybelline Great Lash in brown-black.
  • Chapstick.

Very fun to read everyone else's routine...
Do the same thing every day, unless I'm in a coma:
Wash with Pears' soap and brush with Pepsodent
Pluck eyebrows
Dab on Max Factor Pan-Stik and dust with Coty powder.
Line lips with any old lip pencil and add some shade of red lipstick
Comb out (set) hair or pin up/flip (unset) hair
Run out door.
Take mess off with Pond's at end of day.

I love reading everyones routines!

Here's mine:

cleanse face with witch hazel
Max Factor pan stick (or if special occasion Besame)
Maybelline Lash Stylist (love the comb)
skip liner and shadow unless special occasion then I use a brown on upper only and Besame Socialite Brown or Pistachio shadow
pat on Coty Translucent extra coverage( or Besame if special occasion) with a cotton square
La Femme powder rouge currently in Cinnabar
brush teeth
apply La Femme in Sunset Orange/Tangerine or Bittersweet lipstick (or Besame, I love the Carmine shade)
spray on perfume (for the fall I like Golden Autum)
Always earrings - even if I'm home cleaning house
I brush out my hair last - spritz with hairspray and I'm good to go (or stay home:D )

At night it all comes off with Ponds or Jergens followed by witch hazel
set hair
collapse in exhaustion!

Hmm... here's mine I think..

Wash face with something from Clinique
Moisturize with something from Noutragena (sp?)
Brusha ma teeths
If it's a normal day:

(all benefit)
Powder
Benetint on the lips
Georgia on the apples of the cheeks
Hollywood Glow on the tops of the eyes.
Brush out hair and thow it up in a ponytail or half up half down with a pseudo pomp
Throw on decent looking clothes and do all forms of strange body contortions while fishing for a pair of socks in the closet (someday I'll be patient enough to pair them up and repair my chest of drawers)

If it's a vintage day:

Ditto all the first one then:
*Use a lotion all over legs and arms that smells purty
*Use a green stick to cover blemishes and rub it all in
*Put on Benefit foundation (I think it's called Non Fiction?)
*Coty Powder all over my face and part of my neck
*dab more powder under the eyes to brush away after I apply eyeshadow because I'm terribly messy at that
*Eyeshadow- usually light color near the ridge of the brow (which were most likely plucked the night before when I set my hair) more taupey color until crease, darker color along the edge of the crease and sometimes up a bit if I'm going more dramatic. If I'm doing more causal 30's I'll just use Hollywood Glow.
*for 40's and 50's- dark eyeliner at the top lid- white eyeliner at the bottom.
*Curl eyelashes and add a coat of mascara all over, then wait for it to dry and add a couple more coats at the outer lashes
*Blush on the apples of the cheeks- for more dramatic I use a tanner in the hollow of the cheeks to make my cheekbones stick out more. For more casual I'll add hollywood glow again to the apples for that 30's look.
*Fill in eyebrows sometime during all this stuff.
*Lipstick preferrably with a brush, then set it with that one thing from Benefit... don't remember the name...
*let out pincurls and attempt for a long while to get something looking vintage but not 80's huge. Spray the heck out of it. Make sure it's a style that's hatworthy if I'm doing a hat.
*put on all the undergoodies, don't put stockings on until right before I get dressed.
*dress myself and shoe myself, transfer purse goodies.
*perfume myself
*jewelry myself

And we're done!
(Maybe I should pose this in the Queen Mary thread... lol)
