Homburg with dents

Haven't posted in a while, but this thread has piqued my interest. I think a homburg with dents looks infinitely better that one without, it's a little surprising that more people don't wear theirs that way. Are there any modern production homburgs (I know Akubra makes one, but only in black) that are "dentable", or do you pretty much have to go vintage or custom?

You can dent any homburg, I just think it looks better with a higher crown. Stetson makes a current one, so does Locke and Herbert Johnson... I don't believe Akubra does, and if they did... well I haven't seen anything from them with a proper brim curl so I doubt it.

If you want to feast your eyes on a more recent move rife with Homburgs worn devil may care... Rent Michael Collins.

they did a great job of depicting style in Ireland during that time.

Akubra Homburg from HatsDirect.

Looks OK to me, Dents and all. If I got one I personally would not put side dents in it, but you see them all the time in old films and pictures.

Dang and it is only 80 bucks American! We're having an economic meltdown.... What is happening in Oz?

A Homburg without dents is like a planet without life.

Is was just cruising the threads here and discovered this....

What a Great Look! Bravo! I think that look is vintage but also very contemporary aswell...almost cutting edge.....

When a homburg is bashed like that isn't there another name for it? Seems like I remember reading something about......I don't remember....was it a "Manor Hat" ?

No it's just Homburg with side dents. You might be thinking a Lords Hat which is similar to a Homburg but without brim binding. Both are Anglo terms for a German style hat. For example you don't see the term Homburg being used in Germany or Austria until after WWII. Prior they were usually called Mode Hut (Fashion Hat) or something similar.

This is part of Lock & Co.'s new Lock & Roll Series.....

What do you guys think?.....Admittedly it's a tad on the Stingy bit side, but it might be just "What the Doctor Ordered" to introduce this style quality hat to a whole new generation, who might find this version easier to pull off on a daily basis....

Thoughts?

Some Homburg style hats (going back 100+ years ago) had shorter brims. Today when I wear a Homburg (or whatever you want to call them) it rarely draws any special attention. Most people have no idea of the history.

I've got a lovely Cavanagh homburg I put some dents in. I've also got a 50's St. Regis that needs some Black Sheep Hatworks TLC that I got as a gift for a friend...so there's two in the hands of the younger generation.
