Has anybody made a stand for storing their hats?

The Akubra hats I bought had all suffered from being kept flat on a shelf stacked on top of each other, so, after reshaping them, I wonder if I could make a stand with exactly the shape they have now, including the rim.
I t would keep the shape during storage but could also be used to reshape the hat after a soaking in the rain, the hat could be left on the stand to dry.

I think that a cast could be made with a plastic sheet in the hat and some building foam on a can

I have ordered a 2$ hat from Hongkong to try it out on.

Any other ideas?

I've considered doing a bunch of mannequin heads once, but I realized I didn't have the space to do it for all of my hats.

Interesting undertaking. Never really heard of anyone doing that before. Myself, I just put them on a "hat shelf" in my closet on their crown so the brim does not get warped. On this web page they have a few products to put your hat on so they keep their shape

I personally have one "hat stand cage" for hats that get wet and need to be left to dry properly. Some nicer option avalible now, as you can see.
Not sure if this helps or is off base.

I've been wondering the same about how to store my hats. I have 8 or 9, and they do take up a bit of space. I wonder if there's some kind of storage container with drawers that would hold them...

When my wife realized I wasn't backing down from my acquisition of more hats, she decided to steer into the skid. "Next time you're at the antique store looking for vintage hats, I'll search for an expensive 19th century hat rack." Woops.

I have mine hanging in my den on hooks that are set into the wall. I think it does the trick quite nicely

You could just hang them on every last object in your house that can be used to hang a hat. That's what I do. Guests usually feel the need to count hats. It's entertaining.

I have some like that but run out on things to hang hats. My friends always ask how many I have...

You could always spend about $90 for one of these, which holds 24 lids, maximizing the use of floor space. I use one for my most worn hats.

and on top of the 90$ I'd have to buy 20 hats more, to fill it up ;-)

It would be impressive.

Impressive, yes! But also, the therapeutic value of goal-setting is proven, and you would have clear goals to cover those empty spots. And a great collection! Best of luck.

P.S. They also offer a tabletop model to hold 12 hats, to take smaller steps...
