The reason I got the stockman was the website description of "Aussie form with narrower brim". I think that the band and the brim make it look like a good mixture between a bush hat and a understated outback hat

I love my Stockman. Picked it up recently in an antique store for a great price. I am happy with the smaller brim size. It's my bad weather hat.

I also got it for the narrower brim. In this part of the country, wide-brimmed hats are pretty uncommon, and no matter what style they are, they just read as "cowboy hats" to most folks. I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain that it's an Aussie outback hat, not an American western hat. Though the Stockman is indeed "smaller", it's still a big hat by the standards of the Northeast!

Found Akubra hats on Instagram yesterday. A little surprised to see so many cattleman and cowboy style of hats. So I looked up the top sellers and this is what I found

I find it interesting that not only do they keep track of style but colour. Also interesting light colours are popular. Black seemed the top of the list a few years ago and it seems to have done an about face.

Quite some time ago it was reported (probably here on The Lounge) that the majority of Akubra's "fedora style" hats were sold to customers in Europe and the U.S., and that everyone else around the world preferred "outback" hats.

...Also interesting light colours are popular.
Global warming? :D

I have to admit it that I am as well. Outside of going to work I seem to grab my Art crossover or one of my outback style of akubra. I guess I am a casual kind of guy.

As much as I like the outback ,western and thin ribbon country casual styles
I'll gravitate towards the fedora almost every time

Been a while, but I thought I'd add my most recent adoption.
Akubra Leasuretime.
Classic aussie styling with a stiff felt and a narrower brim than most of its genre. I had initially thought to replace the band but quite like the leather and feather combo. The crown is short but broad and I actually don't mind wearing it open with a slight pinch, although generally I add a light centre dent as in the pic.

Thanks to the Lounge's exuberant recommendation of Akubras, I am experiencing a personal overload. The mailman just brought a Banjo Patterson and a bluegrass green Campdraft. Add the used Snowy River I bought off eBay since I placed my order with Everything Australian, and I have gone from zero to three Akubras in less than a month. Now I just have to bash the CD, but I may hold off on that a bit because there is something about the appearance of that open crown that tickles me.

Thanks Matt,
I noticed you kept the feather in your Stockman.
I would have kept mine but my wife and daughter were adamantly against it.
