Justin AQHA Remuda Mens Black Smooth Ostrich w/Brown Top Exotic Square Toe Boots. I bought these a Cavender's in 2008 and they have been packed away since. They are practically brand new. I don't even know if I wore them once aside from trying them on and walking around the house when I first got them.

I paid $249.99 for them in 2008 and am asking $285.00 shipped.

Cavander's is currently asking $329.99 for them.

Very cool boots! FYI, they are not "Custom Made". They are a "Ready-To-Wear" boot model.

Isshinryu101 - Maybe you can get them directly from a retail store but I ordered these from the Justin factory in my size. You can also find certain models of Lucchese boots at retail stores which you can have custom made to the size and color you want because I have a pair. I suppose if you want to define custom made as going to a bootmaker and having them make a pair of boots based on a mold of your foot they would not be. This link you posted to Cavenders has them on sale for $269.00 they were originally $329.00. You can't beat the price I'm selling them for and I don't plan on giving them away.

I always found it very impolite typing critical posts on a sellers thread in the Classified section. Either someone is interested..or they are not. If they think they may be...then researching and discussing it by PM with the seller would seem more mannerly to me.

I totally agree with you HoosierDaddy. It certainly is not mannerly typing critical comments on a sellers thread but it happens here all too often. I wouldn't do that which makes me question someone's motive for doing so.

What are you talking about? Where is the criticism? He referred to them as a "custom boot" & that is clearly not what they are. I stated they are "very cool boots" which they are AND I stated they are a Ready To Wear model... AGAIN, exactly what they are. Ordering them from a retailer rather than walking into a store does not make them "custom" which refers to a whole other level of customization. EVERYONE calls their footwear "custom" and that is a misnomer for most.

Also, where did I do wrong to post the link that shows them at the same store seller bought them from??? I didn't make up the price. Also never gave an opinion as to what seller should sell them for. Sheesh... the land of hurt feelings here.

What I did do was correct a mistake the seller made in the listing. The correct response should be "Thank You". If they had been listed as being "Crocodile boots", that would have been incorrect. If they had been listed as "purple boots", that also would have been incorrect. Pointing that out is proper. Since they are not in any way "custom", then calling them such was also incorrect. I merely let the seller know. The fact that he is somehow offended by this seems to point to his hopes that calling them "custom" would possibly bring a higher price or make them seem of higher quality.

I personally would prefer being notified of any errors in my listing and would thankfully change them.

On a side note, buyer got a great deal at $200.00.

I think Ish's comments were fair. He pointed out something relevant that was incorrect in the listing. I think that it only fair to both vendor and potential purchaser. I don't believe that Purplesage had any intention of deceiving anyone but others may be less scrupulous - thus it is something that should be open for discussion. Words like 'custom made' need to be used in a very careful context.
And Ish's posting of the link merely confirmed that the sale price was a damn good deal.

I agree. To me, the idea that the "buyer should beware and do his own research" and that contributing FL members all of a sudden become impertinent if they correct a seller's oversight/error/misleading statement or question a seller's comments seems like behavior expected at an impersonal flea market rather than in an online community of like-interested people. Ideally, we should be supporting each other, helping sellers become better accurate and successful and buyers better informed and happy, but I gather that some would rather the classifieds function like a free private eBay auction or brick-and-mortar shop where no one can publicly weigh in for fear of being branded as a rude troublemaker. I wish to clarify that I do see a difference between mature, acceptable comments and inappropriate inflammatory comments, and Ish's comments and Two Types defense serve as the kinds of discussion I think the FL values, as evident from posts in other sections.
