+1 and his hat rack has some star quality lids hanging on it. You can hang a terrible cap on a leading man and it is stly'n, while you hang the same cap on a common man and it identifies him as a bread line dude. IMO, you have the mug for caps or you do not. Know your limits. (FWI: I knew long ago I was not destined to be a male supermodel or even date female supermodels. Not sad, just a personal recognition. )

HBK - I attach the leather to the strip of twill first, then that assembly gets sewn into the cap. I find it's neater for me - easier to control on a normal sewing machine. I don't have dedicated sweatband machine like our master capmakers, so that has been my workaround! I've seen a few vintage ones that were done that way, so I felt better about it!

My latest Archer cap. Back pleats and band, with the addition of a box pleat in front and a crown strap. 1940's wool crépe that shines like copper, 1940's kimono silk liner with 1920's silk stripes. Vintage brass snap and buckle, 1930's 'For Gentlemen' buttons.
