Thanks Alan, looks like I guessed wrong! I didn't realize it was this hat. Definitely 1940s.

I'm still confused, because I don't see a tag photo posted by Lotsahats. He didn't show us anything of the inside. Without seeing the inside, I'd say his hat is a 1950s hat, because that's really the era of the 100s, extending into the 1960s, not the 1940s.

Took this one some time back:

I don't recall there being other labels inside, but if this doesn't give you what you need, I'll have another look.

Picked up two hats in a local shop yesterday; I posted the first in the Cavanagh Club, and the second hat is a Knox Superfine. It's a lovely hat, but on top of the need for a really solid cleaning, this one's pretty moth-bitten; in fact, some of the bites go all the way through the felt. It's a nice light brown color, though, and it's got a nice bound edge. It might never be a big seller, but it's a handsome hat, and I got it for a song, so I don't mind the cost of a clean, block, and flange just to keep this guy in my collection.

Dating's a little interesting on this one. I always rely on Brad Bower's fantastic website for information for Hat Corporation hats, and so the inside label would seem to indicate a 40s hat, but the size tag would say 50s. There is a price sticker that says 12.50, but otherwise there are no other labels in the hat.

I've read through this whole thread, and the only other hat I've seen this liner in is a Superfine homburg. That makes me wonder whether this hat with its bound brim is a conversion. At any event, I'm pretty comfortable keeping it, moth holes and all. :)

Got it at a discount because of a distinct spot or smudge on the front brim. Cleaned up good enough for me

Thanks all, my favorite thing about it is the pinch/dents. They look like someone just bashed their fists into it.

Nice hat.

Brad can work wonders with a HCA manufacturing label, but I think a guess in the mid to late fifties is going to be close. I've had both Stetson and Cavanagh homburgs with that narrow brim binding. The Stetson had a dated sales receipt for 1956. The Cavanagh is of a similar vintage.

The sweatband in this one is a little rough but intact, secure and perfectly comfortable. Otherwise quite nice.
No idea as to age. No tags inside.

[Better than any new one on the market. I have a couple like that. I send them to Black Sheep Hatworks to have an ostrich leather sweat put in. Even replace the junky ones on open roads that are to narrow and do not grip my head.
