Its Time for the 1960's

Practically Family
One of the most iconic/ugly/ or in between houses was the trilevel of the 1960's. What a monument in architecture and space. We live in a development from the 60s that is pretty special. It has traditional two story, one story homes but about one fourth of the houses are a type of trilevel. These are fairly large and some are very typical ugly ( ? ) trilevels, but many are traditional looking from the outside but three livable levels on the inside. The use of the trilevel increased space significantly and made what use to be basement or otherwise wasted space very livable. We moved into a large traditional looking house 20 years ago that turns into a quad level on the inside. This was built in 1966. It has a typical trilevel floor pattern all above ground but with a basement ( fourth level ) so a quad. We opened up the house so when you enter you are on the lower ground level; you are not forced to go up like originally designed. There are still the other two livable levels to use pending your needs with bathrooms on all levels. The kitchen and formal dining room on the second level were greatly expanded out the back by the previous owners who loved to cook. There have been architecture designs and attempts on some of the other houses to modify their space, but I want to hear what others have done to their property if possible. I think these could be redesigned wonderfully by the right people. When we bought this house it was our "ugliest home" we had ever owned but we loved the interior and the space. Once we moved in it was "Home" and the most comfortable home we have ever owned. Being raised in the 60's made this house like no others and we were set.
