I Rather Like How This Hat Looks. Where Might One Find a New Hat Like This?

While looking about Google images, I found this nice little vintage Stetson Gun Club. Apparently it's from the 1950s, and they don't seem to be making them anymore. Where might one find a new hat similar to this one?

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a long hair version hat? Long hair, as in made for a person with long hair, or long hair, as in fuzzy?

Edit: Nervermind. I looked up what the long hair hats were, and they were hairy. I found it added a nice texture. Also, I checked Stetson's website, but I could not find these hats. Where might one find them?

I checked eBay, but none were my size. All to big, or too small. I'm a size 7 1/2. I may be able to wear 7 3/8 also. Etsy didn't have any it seems. There was a hat called the same name, but it didn't have a telescope crown, and it had pinch.

I wonder if you could turn a new wool hat into a similar hat. If it had the same brim width, then all that would be needed to do would be changing the crown, and giving it a fat ribbon.

It's in the Fall 2015 line, most of which hasn't hit retailers yet, but it's on page 6 of the catalog:

The Dobbs Game Bird was also a similar looking hat from the time period in certain iterations.

If you are really set on a specific look, you can always order a custom hat that replicates it. This will cost a little more, though. So it depends on how strong your finances and desire are.

I have to agree. That Brixton hat isn't very nice looking, and there isn't a brown option. I hope the Stetson Gun Club reissue will have a brown one.

I have never been happy in reproducing someone else's hat. It does not look the same on me because I look different. However, I can take a hat and get it to look better on me with some changes. This is why I look at most factory hats as advanced kits.

With that in mind, I suggest that you look at the Akubra Hampton. Recrease it (or have it recreased) to a teardrop. Yes, there are a few differences - such as the crease and the edge trim rather than an overwelt. But there are also a lot of similarities in basic shape and color. I would ask Sam if it can be obtained with your chosen crease or supplied open crown.

You just need to decide what things about the Gun Club that you like and what you might want to change.

Then build or customize a hat around your tastes.

You could also look to any of the fine hat makers here and discuss your project with them for a truly custom hat.
