I had an opportunity to sit and listen to a friend of mine, Dan Kase-Lonesome Dan Kase, play acoustic blues recently. We were the only hated fellows in attendance. His Stetson Whippet and Kopp guitar playing were "hot" that evening.

Last night we saw the group Power of Tower. Steve (Doc) Kupka always wears his lid.
"Dont change horse in the middle of the stream' was one of my favorites from this band .
Their brass section would knock you over !

That is a good looking hat Willie is wearing. On my iPad I can't tell for sure from the photo if it is a straw or felt though. SunBody makes a Guatemalan straw hat like that with a brim binding.
On another note, a few years ago a friend took me backstage at a Willie concert. When we were talking to him he took his hat off for a second and I noticed it was an Akubra by the liner and sweatband. The style looked like a Snowy River.

I've been lucky enough to go back stage at his concerts a few times. Even went on his bus one time. I have a good friend that is friends with his band members. One night we sat on the stage behind the speakers and he was not 20' from me all night. That was very cool to be able to see the audience's reaction from his view point.
Another time at Floore's Country Store in Helotes he went on stage and played non stop for about 3 hours. I commented to his road manager that I can't believe he is playing that long without a break. He said "When he is on stage is the only time he ever gets to be alone". I thought that was a pretty cool statement.
