Would This Hat Fit Me?

While looking for Stetson Gun Clubs, I found this one on eBay. However, it is size 7 1/4, and I am 7 1/2. However, My 7 1/2 hat seems a tad too big (it's an extremely small space between my head, and the hat.) My head is 23" around. Would 7 1/4 fit? I always cock my hat to an extreme angle, and I tend to wear my hats back a bit.

23" is closer to 7 3/8 than 7 1/2. I understand why 7 1/2 is too big on you...

The hat would have to be stretched. I have stretched 7 1/4 hats to fit me, I wear a 7 1/2 (23 1/2" head measurement). Keep in mind that when you stretch a hat it produces some negative effects on the hat like a slight bulge around the sweatband area and possibly a crooked brim, of course the severity of these effects depends on how much you stretch the hat. Also one time stretching is usually not enough as the hat will eventually shrink back down to its original size and you will have to stretch it again.

You would truly benefit by a trip to see Jeff at Delmonico's in New Haven. They may even have the current re-do of the same model Gun Club, as seen in the 150 Anniversary catalogue, here. Scroll down a bit less than halfway.

And who knows... you may find a lid or two that you like even better!

I would visit Delmonico's if I lived anywhere near them, that is good advice. I have never been to the store but I have dealt with them online and over the phone and their customer service and knowledge of the current hat market are second to none.

There's an airport in New Haven... Its abt a 10 min drive to the shop.

If I ever want to see all of the new Stetson's coming out soon I will probably have to do that, I went in a local hat store and they did not even know Stetson had new hats coming out or what an open crown hat was.
