I live in the Alps region. Had a B-3 from Aero, it was just way too warm for here. Pretty to look at, though. But moving wearing it, well, not for me. Gave it to my uncle who lives in Finland. The other problem was that we tend to get rain, sleet, snow, ice, cold, all the same day, temperature going all over the place. B-3 tends to deal with cold, only.

Blimey, most of my trips to the Alps have been snow-bound and sub-zero, so I'd have thought a B-3 would have done you proud! I do like the ANJ-4's low-key cool, especially the seal-on-seal combo. I shall need to investigate further and try on an example of two, just to see how it feels. Love my Irvin, but I like the idea of a slightly longer and darker sheepskin jacket (with pockets!). The relative stiffness of HH on sheepskin is definitely something I'll need to look at as well.
Out of interest, does anyone know when the ANJ-4 was introduced and how it common it was?
J, I think Butte is just suggesting you're 'big-boned'.

I'm just messing with him.
Yes, the sheepskin sections that have horse are pretty stiff.

LOL! - come on guys, that's not what I meant! I'm in the club too, so I get the challenges. I just don't want to be the guy telling the stuffed sausage that his new slim fit jacket looks great on his Homer body is all ;)

Jest kidding! You're absolutely right: there are some styles that just lend themselves to more compact frames, while others are perfect for the larger body types - the likes of Aero's Stockman and Mariner would just swamp me but are ideal for, say, Worf. Or even Big J!

I was inspired by John Lever’s review of the Aero ANJ4 noted here and on the VLJ forum. Thus I pulled the trigger and placed an order for one in April this year.

Well my ANJ4 Long Zipper was delivered by DHL yesterday morning. Wow, what a substantial piece of gear. I chose the ANJ4 over the B3 for many of the reasons already cited here. With regard to architecture, Plumbline nailed it in his statement regarding "1. Pockets, 2. Design and 3. Wearability” description below. I like Sloan’s characterization of the ANJ4 as “low-key cool”

Although I would not hesitate to purchase a B3 for it's heft and iconic classic look. Love the exposed shearling trim.

Does that mean you won't comment on my new boob tube and Lycra bike pants combo?

That is a lovely jacket. As you said quite substantial. It really is one of my favourite designs. I would love to try one on, just to see how warm they actually are. I've been warned off by so many people that they are too warm for our climate....I just love them.

That is a great jacket. I really like the look of the full zip version. Of course, I'd have to get one with contrasting trim and some patches on it to make sure that 'low key cool' still screams 'Bombing nazis!'.

Thank you Bunyip. I hope that you get the chance to try one on sometime. Besides warmth, you'd be amazed at the comfortable fit of the pattern.

I was similarly inspired by John's review of the LW ANJ-4 and pulled the trigger a few months ago. Can't wait for winter. I'll try to get some pics up shortly.

Yes avique, looking forward to seeing your pics. I took the above photo today in 60 degree plus temperature with high humidity. I'm looking forward to meeting the challenges of the colder season ahead.

Hi repo. Are you satisfied with your Anj-4 ? Unfortunately too big for me...

Hi Tefouane, yes I am. I thought the sleeves might be too short but I think they're okay. I'll try and post some pics. It seems to have sparked my interest in military jackets again and now have an M422a on order!

Aero have nailed that pattern. I have owned Anj4's from LW RMNZ ELC, this is the most comfortable of them all. I often have to go up a size so I can lift my arms above my head but no problem with mine.
